Officials dispute reliability of Waukesha County clerk's election data system
By Laurel Walker of the Journal Sentinel

Director of Administration Norman A. Cummings said because Nickolaus has kept them out of the loop, the county's information technology specialists have not been able to verify Nickolaus' claim that the system is secure from failure.

"How does anybody else in the county know, except for her verbal word, that there are backups, and that the software she has out there is performing as it should?" he said. "There's no way I can assure that the election system is going to be fine for the next presidential election.

.......

"What happens if something goes wrong on election night? We don't support her at all on election night. She was pretty clear about that. If something goes wrong, what do you do?" he said. "I would love to be able to go in and verify that everything is OK."

.........................

Cummings said, "Nobody's trying to do her elections for her." He said, however, that he was troubled that Nickolaus talks about the computer equipment, software and data as if it is hers, although it was purchased with county funds.

3. "if I get hit by a bus, this election is going to run just fine."
Walker has a reason to make her silent.

5. I'd be very pressed to believe that the county's independant auditors
would ever sign off on this system. Lack of internal control and separation of duties are critical elements that most counties work as hard as possible to maintain.

This seems like just too glaring a violation of internal control protocols to not warrant more investigation.

9. The only think people should be worrying about is, where is the paper?
As long as the paper ballots and paper trails of electronic voting machines are safe we don't need to worry if she's honest or lying or if her computers can be trusted.

Shut off her computers, tell her to go home and recount the paper by hand.
