3. corporate Democrats don't negotiate with the GOP on fiscal, foreign policy, or social programs
they see what the GOP proposes, then try to figure out the absolute minimum distance they can step to the left from that and still claim they disagree--but then surrender the difference as soon as negotiations start (and sometimes before).

"Bipartisan" is a good thing when Democrats do it. For Rethugs, not so much.

I'm beginning to think the two parties referred to in "bipartisan" are "Dumb" and "Dumber".

75. Thanks for the reply --
Just want to comment further on that Rightwing Hollywood Soundstage --

The GOP gave start up funding for the Christian Coalition -- authority was being

attacked by youth across the board in every instance* and the pattern for shoring

it up is to shore up patriarchy's underpinning -- organized patriarchal religion.

Richard Scaife funded Dobson's group -- and other rw wealthy funded Bauer's.

GOP/"pro-lifers" -- often funded by white Christian militias -- they also went to

Methadone clinics to hire protesters to be used outside women's clinics.

They were also used to introduce violence into the political scene to get what they

wanted -- and eventually turned to murdering doctors.

GOP/NRA -- rw radicalized the NRA to target not only liberals/moderates in Dem Party

but also in Repug party moving everything to the right -- also moving towards a more

violent society which is the way rw rises.

GOP/Computer voting -- these computers began coming in during the late 1960's --

I'd question every election back to Nixon/Humphrey. LARGE computers used by MSM came

in during mid-1960's and gave them tremendous new powers to PREDICT and CALL elections --

ELECTORAL COLLEGE votes -- and to CALL states for presidential candidates. What we saw

in 2000 was simply a REVERSAL of those new powers.

GOP/T-baggers -- financed by Koch Bros -- run out of a PR firm which guarantees them

publicity. Also seem to be being used to raise the level of aggression and violence in

American political arena.

GOP/Think tanks -- all financed by the right wing wealthy --

As Cheney clearly told us -- and John Mitchell before him --

"the rightwing creates the reality -- and the rest of you live it!"

Needless to say, we've had 50 plus years of rightwing political violence -- assassinations --

they no longer wait now for a leader to rise -- they kill liberal leadership before it can

rise.

The Q this board has to answer is the all important one before 2012 -- and it's this ...

Is the Democratic Party correct in saying that we have "no place else to go" -- ?

Because that would be like saying the only place we can go is to the RIGHT!!

:)

43. Just substitute deer for kittens... or old people.
Cayuga Heights is a community by Ithaca about an hour's drive from my own. It is a bedroom community for Cornell University, one of the most educated communities in the nation-- it's said that residents hold the most PhD's than any other community in the nation.

Controversial deer control plan in Cayuga Heights

According to the Department of Environmental Conservation there are about 200 deer in the 2-square mile Village. That is about five times the recommended population for an area of that size.

Due to that overpopulation, the DEC and the Village crafted a plan to reduce the population.

Under the Village's proposal, it would sterilize up to 60 female deer and kill the remaining using guns or traps so the herd can be brought down to a manageable size, which could take up to five years once a plan approved.

"The DEC has given us given us permission to net and bolt deer as a culling method so there is no projectile weapon," said Village Mayor Katie Supron. "So the deer would be netted and then a bolt gun would be used to kill them."
http://www.9wsyr.com/news/local/story/Hearing-discusses-reducing-deer-population-in/p0xiEZAZO0y_XjqazZJOSw.cspx
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...The village will spend up to 72 thousand dollars to surgical sterilize up to 60 doe over a two year period, the remainder of the herd will be thined through a bait and shoot program.

The remediation plan comes after residents have expressed concner over the growing deer problem, the deer have caused several thousan dollars in damage due to over population and also pose a risk to motorists.

Oppoenets of the culling say the vote Monday was done without public notice in order to push the plan through
http://www.wxhc.com/news-viewer.php?id=3747
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...The plan calls for capturing and neutering 20 to 60 does and killing the rest. The venison would be donated to the Southern Tier Food Bank. Mayor Kate Supron said "We can't make everybody happy, that's a given. But we would like to bring the population down to a level we consider safe and healthful."

Opponents have formed a citizens group to fight the deer culling plan. They've launched a campaign that has stirred emotions in Cayuga Heights and surrounding communities.

James LaVeck is among the opponents. "Ultimately we have a small group of influential residents who don't want to put up fences to protect their gardens and instead they want to bring in out of town gunmen put out bait piles and shoot down human habituated deer in people's backyards." LaVeck told CNY Central.

For more information, Cayuga Heights has published its deer management plan on its website.

The opponents have their own website. http://www.cayugadeer.org/

shit and pus from those in Cayuga Hts. for endorsing such a plan. And may the stags pierce the bellies of these lunatics with their antlers.

Arm the Deer!!!!!

And wouldn't it be easier to de-gonad the stags?

I wish I hadn't read this.

The deer were there first. Goddess, I detest people. They want to live in the 'country' but don't want any wildlife. May they never get fucked again. No reproduction for these anti-deer people. And may Viagra blind them!

END WORLD HUNGER. EAT THE RICH.....(of Cayuga Hts.) Please.

Hey femrap... perhaps they can ship the deer to your house. Then you can "enjoy" their company.

The deer where there first??? :eyes: C'mon!

Bacteria was everywhere first. Perhaps we should abandon the entire planet for it. (maybe we are)

I think the deer population explodes because there's plenty to eat in people's flower gardens and the deer's natural predators are not around. Deer are at the low end of the food chain, y'know. That plus loss of habitat makes them deal with living around people.

We have the same problem here in rural NC. No one is trying to eradicate deer (well, maybe not true) but the populations are crazy huge. They need to be culled. I have a friend in a community in Durham County who has a herd of like 25 to 30 deer go thru everyone's yards 2 times a day! They are not shy. They are fearless. They ain't Bambi.

Anyway... in the la-dee-da gated community of Landfall down here in Wilmington, NC they used the deer in ads to attract residents (a darling pic of fawns peering out of the woods with "Meet your neighbors" as a caption) but the population got enormous and then they hired bow & arrow hunters to come down and cull the herd.

The irony was noted. And there was much outrage. I don't think the arrows flew... in fact I don't know how that was resolved.

Anyway... I sure am tired of deer leaping out in front of my car, day & night.

There are too many people....wish the dudes would just tie it in a knot. Just because one can reproduce doesn't mean one should.

Overpopulation of PEOPLE is the real problem.

68. "Perhaps we could take more moderate approach...
...and simply abandon the elderly in the desert to fend for themselves."

This would be entirely acceptable to a segment of DU.
In fact, it would celebrated as a "historic" VICTORY,
simply because it wasn't as bad as The Republicans.

Who will STAND and FIGHT for THIS American Majority?
Lofty Rhetoric, Broken Promises, and Whiny Excuses mean NOTHING now.
"By their WORKS you will know them,"
and by their WORKS they will be judged.

71. It is a historic victory that we did not allow the GOP to bash their heads in with rocks and eat
their brains.

Instead, our grandparents will enjoy the dignified, slow starvation of an Ethiopian child, and the ecologically sound disposal of their remains by being eaten by buzzards.

72. I'm just a caveman
but other than using the word "pony" I can't see that this commentary has anything at all to do with the "I want a pony meme".
