I want to buy a house from Barack Obama
by John Aravosis (DC) on 4/12/2011 01:05:00 PM

Barack Obama: I'm selling my house for $400,000.

Me: I want it for free.

Obama: How about $350,000?

Me: I want it for free.

Obama: $300,000?

Me: I'll hold my breath until I pass out and die unless you give it to me for free.

Obama: I couldn't bear watching you hold your breath. $200,000 is my final offer, even though my mortgage is $250,000.

Me: Ok.

Obama: Isn't compromise wonderful.

Me: I've changed my mind...

13. John Aravosis - the host of americablog.com
He has an extremely popular blog, particularly among the homosexual community. He is definitely not irrelevant.

4. Sounds like John Aravosis is a dick, just like the GOP.
Not sure what that has to do with Obama.

5. Please don't pretend ignorance in defense of Obama.
This is *EXACTLY* how he's been negotiating with
the Republicans, time after time after time.

He gives away the store (or the house) even before
negotations have opened.

You're not paying attention to the details of end result.

And of course you're blaming Obama (one man in one branch) for the actions of the entire dick party and the teafucker party.

7. The details and end result I saw
Was that the Republicans started off demanding spending cuts in the neighborhood of $31 billion. By the end of the negotiations, the Republicans had achieved agreement to $38 billion in cuts, and had nearly achieved other cuts that weren't even mentioned at the beginning of things (such as Planned Parenthood, NPR, etc.).

Now, I have certainly been wrong in the past, but it seems to me that if the end result of negotiations that started at $31 billion in spending cuts and ended up with $38 billion in cuts, and a complete failure to extract any promises not to further refine and extend those demands in future negotiation, then the administration got skinned badly. But maybe I just don't understand the subtleties and nuances of giving away the store and claiming victory. A few more victories like that and we can turn off the lights on this little experiment in constitutional governance.

17. WOW! We didn't have to kill every third domestic cat
Who knew that was even part of the Republican demands? And Obama saved Fluffy and Mr. Whiskers! And the people in their cardboard boxes rejoiced.

9. This is more of a statement about his negotiating tactics.
John Aravosis has taken issue with Obama's lack of leadership on issues ever since the health care debacle. Obama just doesn't come out in front. He lets the Republicans call the shots and then he is always left playing catch-up. Obama is a marvelous speaker. He saw the showdown coming. He should have been out in front, condemning the tax cuts for the rich, condemning the republicans for wanting to now cut programs that Americans depend on. But he couldn't do that very well since he went along with those tax cuts. Obama's message never gets out and he is a very weak negotiator. And he never fights for his base. He's a great orator, he just never uses it.

12. He uses it when it benefits him or his corporate backers. He used the hell out of it on the campaign

trail and I expect we will be seeing it again as he suddenly needs the base to get re-elected.

He talks a good game, but its just talk.

10. what unbelieveable comments about John. He's done more
accidently for good in this world than the first four posters. You can disagree with him but to deny him? Too sad for words.

18. Ad hominem
It's both a logical fallacy and a cheap, easy way to make an argument.
