Just how stupid are Republicans? "Donald Trump tied for first in poll of GOP race"
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20053168-503544.html

Reality television host and developer Donald Trump has risen to a tie for first among potential GOP presidential contenders, according to a new national poll.

Nineteen percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents said in the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey that they are most likely to back Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. That put him in a tie at the top of the list with former Arkansas governor and 2008 candidate Mike Huckabee, who also received 19 percent support.

Rounding out the top five were former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin with 12 percent support, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 11 percent support and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, also with 11 percent support. They were followed by Rep. Ron Paul of Texas with 7 percent support and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota with 5 percent support.

Trump has risen ten points from a similar poll taken by the same organization last month.

3. I think a lot of his appeal comes from his message about how the country conducts business
He is saying we're idiots in how we're dealing with China and OPEC. He is also saying that were getting screwed by a lot of our "free trade" deals. I believe those point might resonate with a lot of Repub's.

14. That's hard to understand
Whether you agree with him or not, he's not an idiot. He obviously sees an advantage in pursuing that, but I don't see what it might be.

7. probably more to do with name recognition than anything else
This far out in the polling famous people tend to do better than non-famous people. Remember a lot of people can't name people like the speaker of the house. It really isn't that surprising that non-political junkies haven't remember nobodies like Newt or Romney. While Trump has his own show is in the celebrity mags and on TV now all the time. So both political and non-political people have heard of him. People like Trump tend to poll best really early and then never gain after because as people learn more of the other candidates they tend to be less attracted to the celebrity guy.

10. Stupider than the average rock
Any party that can elect Palin to a governorship (they didn't know at the time it would be temporary) or Bachman to a national office is pretty much at the low end of the intelligence range.

11. Trump took me on a tour of his Trump Towers
way back when when I was a young working woman in Manhattan. Yes, I went with him, but he struck me as a LEECH even as a young man. I am only few years younger than him.

Bragging about his wealth and hitting on a young woman. That was my impression of the young Donald Trump. If he was that as a YOUNG man, I seriously doubt he has changed much.

No, I would not vote for him, even as a fellow contemporary New Yorker.

12. Well since the PTBs don't seem to give a rat's ass
whether their agenda is hidden or not anymore, I suspect that Trump is just the next domino in that game. When Trump wins the Presidency it'll PROVE beyond a doubt (to me anyway) that it's ALL a setup and that voting is just a "reality" show. And of course that we the voters are just patsies.

I'm not far from thinking that now. Trump as President would put me there without a doubt.

They must not know about his bankruptcies and bail outs.
