I Did Not Interview John Boehner (Matt Taibbi)

There is a story flying around the internet that purports to contain an excerpt of an interview I did with John Boehner. This interview is a hoax and neither I nor Rolling Stone had anything to do with it. There are some seriously bored people out there... if people are going to make up a fantasy activity for me in the future, please, make it a foot massage from Jessica Gomes, not face time with John Boehner.

It sounded incredibly believable, and though the purported interview didn't actually happen, it was nonetheless true. As for any pipe dreams you might have involving Ms. Gomes, that's not really our department.

(That last line is standard news outlet-speak for "Now fuck off, we're not changing a goddam thing, even if we were totally wrong." For an example, try contacting NPR about their panicked response to James O'Keefe's hoax. Real people lost real jobs in that one. Neither Matt Taibbi nor John Boehner has suffered any measureable harm from the ersatz interview story.)
