simple messaging for Dems: “Republicans want to destroy Medicare and we don’t.”
Obviously the "they're just doing what they want to do" argument is a compelling one, but leaving aside what their real policy desires are, the politics are completely idiotic. Republicans propose destroying Medicare, Dems should say "no." Obviously we don't know for sure what's going to be said, but anything other than "Republicans want to destroy Medicare and we don't" is political incompetence.

6. No No!! They're being "courageous!"
They -- the PUkes, that is.

The idea that Dems would actually grow a spine is the stuff dreams are made of. I hope I'm wrong, but you'll never hear those words - "Republicans want to destroy Medicare and we don't" - come from this administration. Oh, they'll be all cerebral about it, and talk around it. Goddammit, I wish to high heaven they'd draw the fucking line in the sand and JUST SAY IT. And then follow it up with some backbone.

If you see my OP elsewhere in GD, once Medicare is gone, once Social Security is gone, once OSHA and MHSA are gone, once the Civil Rights Act is gone, THEY'LL NEVER BE BACK. GONE FOREVER.
