Decorah eagle question

Does anyone know what that animal is on the left side of the nest? It looks like a head.

2. Mom and dad were chowing down

First time I've seen that! Earlier the mom moved what looked like a rather large head. It
kind of looked like a (cow) calfs head.

5. Nope, can't say for sure, but I've noticed that songbirds in that
tree tend to irritate Mom. Early on, I mentioned to my family that something was irritating her and he came back with a crow. Don't know if it was related at all.

I saw that and thought for a minute and thought that it looked like a raccoon.

Something was bothering her after dark, she called him in and they both were irritated. I, respectful of raptors, wouldn't mess with any of them, but especially not an eagle. Love to watch the ones in my neck of the woods, but wouldn't bother any of them. Perhaps some critter got too close to the nest?

6. I saw video of both of them in the nest last night warning something off
Basically they were telling something they'd fuck them up if it came close to the nest. No way would I fuck with them.

7. If we saw the same thing, when Mom was facing one way
and then he spun, half lept, with wings out and they were both *warning* something and highly irritated.

Funny story, we were at Dollywood about a decade ago and they have a raptor 'show' there, and there is a large sign that plainly states, "No Food Beyond This Point" and my spouse didn't think that applied to him and his bag of chips. I told him not to take those chips in, but he did.

Anyhoo, they turn these trained raptors loose and call them in, we were on the front row, and the raptor wanted his chips, the trainer was working furiously to get the bird's attention and it swooshed between our heads preferring the trainer. She seemed relieved, and I stated sternly to him, "put those goddamned chips under your seat."

Wild ones no way.

8. It was an owl

There's a YouTube video of the scene and you can hear the owl hooting at some point.

17. Sorry that I bothered to respond..
I'm not sure that the owl was what was bothering them so much.

10. A chickadee actually landed on the edge of the nest earlier

The mom was startled at first, then realized it was harmless. It didn't stay for long, but it was a neat surprise.

13. do we all think that the light is a good idea?

I know it makes watching them much easier, but it must be harder for them to sleep.

Seems pretty unnatural to me.
