tweet from Bernie
senatorsanders Bernie Sanders
Bernie notes that at a time of soaring fuel prices, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Prog. would be cut by $390mill. under this deal

I don't understand how people can be so cruel, to allow people that are struggling or elderly to freeze.
LIHEAP funds have already been slashed in Jan. and now they want more.

1. This is the shove down. The problem lands in the states' lap and
is then passed down to the cities and towns. We all pay ultimately, as we should, but the pols come out smelling like roses and try to tell us that they have saved us $. A giant shell game.

2. in my state we have Joe Kennedy working with Venezuela
he is able to get oil at a discounted price. As far as I know that allows one fill up per year after one has exhausted their eligibility or are turned down for Fed. program.

Last year Joe claimed he had an overwhelming increase of request for fuel assistance.

4. Very true.
Our local leaders are already trying to find tax revenue to pick up the void the federal cuts have done to needed social programs. We used to have free parking downtown on Sunday, but the city council just past an ordinance to keep the meters running on Sunday. Next will probably increased sales taxes. Of course these increases are on the backs of the poor and middle class. The rich will not pay a cent unless local and state governments have the chutzpah to start taxing wealth in the way of property taxes for million dollar estates and second and vacation homes, and transactions taxes on securities. I'm sure I will see pigs fly first.

3. Good that Sanders used the word "cruel" to describe what's being demanded by the right wing
It so perfectly describes them.

Rec'd.
