By increasing the standard deduction, more and more of my tax clients
that own homes are already not itemizing...

It's a good idea, it simplifies taxes for a whole bunch of people.

1. The difference between y itemized and standard deductions
Is around $1000 this year. As it is it will flip the other way in about two more years.

2. More than half of my clients don't itemize anymore...
they get more bang for the buck both nationally and personally because of specifically designed credits

3. I've only itemized once, the year I had over $20K in medical
bills. Every other year, the standard deduction was a better choice.
