Nice words....said all the right things |
|
But then he said all the right things during the campaign too.
Words are just hollow expressions with no meaning, actions are far more important.
The jury is still out on what actions will result from today's speech....a "campaign" speech, have no doubt.
If he actually fights for the all the citizens of this country, those who make $10,000.00 (or less) as well as those that make millions, then I will applaud him to the end of time.
If not.....

5. So then what does this mean: |
|
"Finally, there are those who believe we shouldn’t make any reforms to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security out of a fear that any talk of change to these programs will usher in the sort of radical steps that House Republicans have proposed. I understand these fears. But I guarantee that if we don’t make any changes at all, we won’t be able to keep our commitments to a retiring generation that will live longer and face higher health care costs than those who came before"
??
Did I miss something? Did I not get the secret decoder ring that translates this statement into "there will be no cuts to SS or Medicare"?

6. And then again, he can make an explicit public statement... |
|
then go on to directly contradict it, like with the tax cuts for the rich.

it means that we can't continue to move forward the way we have in the past. It means, as he has said over and over again that Medicare and Medicaid can not continue as they have. He also mentioned ways that he is hoping to reform medicare and medicaid and he did not say that cuts were part of the package.
The secret decoder ring this time around is directing you to immediately replace all instances of the word reform with cut. And if the audience demands it feel free to replace reform with "gutting like a fish".

sometimes I wish the President could rule by decree.... Then my idiotic countrymen provide me with a Reagan or a shrub and I'm damned happy for every opportunity to block his stuff.

the second anything looks like it's going to happen you can bet that the orange one and his teabagger buddies will rise up in a seething mass of slime to make sure that Obama gets just as little of his program as he can.

4. Thoughts create words.... |

...words create actions...actions create change.
