Walker pretends 9-year-old writes supportive letter.
Okay, maybe he isn't pretending. Read it yourself and decide.

Walker Posts 'Support' Letter from an 'Almost 9 Year-Old'

...For the sake of investigation I had to "like" Governor Scott Walker on Facebook to read his posts, and to see the comments of his supporters, and those that don't feel favorable to him...

...As I scrolled down I saw a post that read, "Here is a letter I received last week (her name is withheld for confidentiality purposes):,"...

Dear Governor Scott Walker,

My name is XXXXX XXXX and I am almost 9 years old. My parents were talking about what is going on in Madison and I asked a few questions about the government. If I’m 9 years old and I can understand what you’re trying to do with the bill, maybe you should try spreading your story the way I would understand it. Here’s what I understand about the bill: The money that goes into teachers’ retirement and health care funds comes out of tax-payer’s pockets. We’ve promised something that is unsustainable (unsustainable means can’t go on forever). It’s either change the way benefits are paid for, or some teachers and public workers lose their jobs. The other big part of the bill is about workers’ “rights”—the rules that the employers have to follow so they don’t hurt the workers. Your Bill makes it so that workers can join the union if they want to, if not they can talk to their boss to work out rules. What the workers don’t understand is that they think they have no rights. But they still will have rights just like every American. They think you believe that they don’t do a good job so they get paid less. But that is not true. We don’t have enough money to pay them as much. Like if something did not buy one of my dad’s trees because they can’t afford it, that doesn’t mean they don’t like trees. The workers think you don’t care about education. But that is not true. I believe in you. I always wish I could shout: “GO SCOTT WALKER!!!” But I don’t because teachers might be mad at me. Hope my suggestions help!! XXXXX X. XXXX

Talk about tools. :puke:

and she doesn't understand what is happening. No way she'd ever write a letter like that, unless she was heavily coached and someone told her what to write.

And dashes. And vary their sentence structure like that letter does.

32. My guess is that there is supposed to be subtext.
A "If a 9-year old can understand this, why can't you?" sort of thing.

OTOH, 'they' aren't exactly noted for subtlety and nuance.

26. One of my big pet peeves is parents doing their kids homework. I've seen it so many times.
I've always made my kids to their own projects. Sure, sometimes they sucked, but they always learned and they got better and learned more and more.

This kid is probably home-shooled if he even exists.

30. When I was a kid after listening to bitter fight between my dad and older brother
Dad the Democrat and Brother Repub seemed near ready to duke it out. NH primaries and townhall that night. Candidates and national media passing the house where the triple size Goldwater poster dominated the side of the barn.

Dad whispered in my ear. "Go get some mud and draw the biggest mustache you can on that poster." Marching orders in hand, I out did myself drawing the best Snidely Whiplash could muster using mud as my medium. The day I officially became a Democrat.

But I was coached. No two ways about it.

My brother had a hissy fit at his son for his participation, my dad laughed his aSS off and who knows what Barry G. and the press corp thought. Ah the simple life.

IMO, the letter from the 9 year old to Walker was not half as clever as my bit for the party all those years ago.

Sadly, some of the New Hampshire relatives are still working for the dark side. And I am not allowed to defaCE their posters during primary season!

33. Some one ought to send a letter to his office (and the local papers)...
that was 'composed' by a three year old.

It ought to be well done (but written in crayon), making it sound like they support him and yet, upon reading it a second time, is obviously making a mockery of him.

I would do it, but I would be unable to phrase it without the :sarcasm: being painfully obvious.

That prose and organization is way too sophisticated for an average nine year old.

42. That letter was written by a professional and then re-written in the presonna of a 9 year old...

That or the kid was coached by one of Walker's goons. Either way, its obvious they are using the kid as a tool and I abhor those tactics.

"If I’m 9 years old and I can understand what you’re trying to do with the bill"

Who really thinks a 9 year old fully understands this situation? I mean I'm all for listening to the kids, in the end its the adults understanding of this bill that really matters.
