2. Local governments are being starved by the feds.
I think its part of a plan.

Stem the flow of federal dollars to the cities. Make the cities (mostly enclaves of liberals) raise taxes and fees. Make the Democrats look bad.

3. Do you mean to tell me that you live in a state where EVERYTHING isn't going up by 9%?
You better stay put!

4. That was simply in today's local nooz. Its just an example.
I live where we get news from four states. Its quite distressing watching local officials trying to deal with severe shortfalls.

6. how much is your water bill - in general
our water rates look like this

The Waterworks Board sets rates on a declining rate structure. In other words, as water usage increases, the water rate decreases. A base (minimum) charge of $12.02 applies to all retail customers each month. This base charge also pays for the first two units (0,1 or 2 units) of water usage. An additional amount is then charged for each unit above the base charge for the first two units. The retail water rates for additional usages above two units are as follows:

-for the next 3 to 10 units of usage, the rate is $3.66 per unit.
-for the next 11 to 50 units of usage, the rate is $3.29 per unit.
-for the next 51-1000 units of usage, the rate is $2.74 per unit.
-for 1001 and over units of usage, the rate is $2.09 per unit.

But our water department is separate from the city and from the Federal government as well.
