Good economic news! (But I have a question)

Most jobs advertised since 2008! Of course that's good news. But to me, the problem may not be the number of jobs. This article does not address of the question of what kinds of jobs are being created, and where. Seems to me that I have been hearing a lot about the mismatch between skills required for open jobs and the skills the people available to take those jobs actually have. So I think the news is mixed. I'm not so sure that it's so simple as going back to school, which is may be unrealistic for some 55-year-old former factory worker anyway.

3. Good news?

The number of advertised jobs is not an indicator of the number of open jobs. Some open positions are advertised in multiple venues. And some advertised job openings are nothing more than phishing efforts of placement/temp agencies to increase their pool of candidates.

And those 55 year old unemployed folks? They come from all walks of life. They are white collar and blue collar. Some of them used to be factory workers. Some used to be small business owners. Some were professionals - attorneys, financial professionals, healthcare workers, etc. - with decades of experience.

4. Summer jobs, farm workers, tourism jobs all low pay and just for the

summer.
