Republicans destroy jobs; Democrats ignore jobs
http://smirkingchimp.com/thread/brent-budowsky/35542/republicans-destroy-jobs-democrats-ignore-jobs

It was announced today that jobless claims have risen to 412,000. As I have warned before, the president and Congress are poised to make the same catastrophic policy mistake that FDR and Congress made in 1937. They adopted harsh fiscally conservative policies before the economy had fully recovered, and a bad economy in 1937 relapsed to an even worse economy.

The rise in jobless claims today is a red-flag warning to official Washington. With our debate and policies having moved so far to the right, and I include the Democratic president, the dangers of joblessness rising even higher are real and immediate.

A recent Gallup poll showed the No. 1 issue for voters is the national economy, and the No. 2 issue is jobs, while cutting spending (which also slows the economy) ranks third.

If the jobless rate begins to rise again above the intolerable levels today, which I believe is very likely, voters may run everyone in Washington out of town on a rail.

1. It's not that Dems ignore them per se.....
It's that all they seem to be able to focus on is whatever shiny object Republicans flash before them and tell them to jump for.

They just got distracted from "jobs" when Republicans decided they wanted to talk about "deficits".
