Fox News ties suicide to Obama speech
George Washington University students in Washington, D.C. learned of a tragic coincidence of timing on their campus Wednesday. As President Obama delivered a speech on deficit reduction in the Jack Morton Auditorium, university officials were learning one of their students had committed suicide in his dorm room across campus. <...>

GWU officials tell Fox that police were notified about the incident around 2pm, which happens to be at the same time that President Obama was speaking. A source tells Fox that the incident may have occurred earlier, noting that police went knocking on the student's door at 1:30pm. As of this writing, Fox has not been able to obtain reaction from the White House.

A tragic coincidence of timing that probably didn't actually happen at the same time.

But with the other option being to talk about the Republican plan to abolish Medicare, apparently politicizing this young man's death looked a whole lot better to Fox News.

Pathetic.

1. If Obama's speech resulted in suicide
it would have been a ton of tea baggers who killed them selves.

2. In a somewhat less tragic coincidence of timing
I took a giant growler while Rep Paul Ryan was whining about Obama's speech.

I hope his office will respond to his speech making me take a dump.

He can simultaneously lull the veep to sleep while enticing a youthful teabagger to call it a day.... truly amazing.

7. Sure you want to go there Faux?

How many suicides can be attributed to the rethuglicans attack on the lower classes?

And how many people died way before their time due to lack of medical care from no jobs or medical insurance?

10. Exactly. PTSD soldiers, and workers developing major depression
when their companies moved operations overseas. And how many of our soldiers have been denied adequate care for the treatment of PTSD? We saw a show on this with James Gandolfini (it was on HBO), and it indicated that there are many military men and women in this position, and they are not receiving the care they need, and some of our soldiers have tragically ended their lives. How many of our soldiers and workers were denied adequate mental health care and committed suicide?

9. This is so absurd, it's almost hard to believe, even for Fox. Causation/correlation, anyone?
And they are seriously trying to imply that a student committed suicide (does any idiot at Fox understand anything about people who are in such a situation?) based on anything having to do with the president's speech? An offense to the memory of this student, to use a tragic death for such blatantly preposterous political reasons. Fox has just gone over the edge completely. This is really, really offensive. Not that I am surprised, but this disgusts me, using a student like this after a tragic death.

It's like the "blame Ozzy" stuff from the 80s, but a million times more outrageous and offensively political.
