Cancer patient's nude protest in pictures
Alina Kovalchuk, who suffers from cancer of the lymph nodes, was joined by two other activists from the women's rights organisation Femen to stage a protest against the absence of a state program to cure cancer and the lack of financing of Ukrainian oncological centres in front of the Ministry of Health headquarters in Kiev, Ukraine. Alina demanded an increase in financing of oncological programmes for those sick with cancer as a result of consequences of Chernobyl catastrophe and end to what they claim is embezzling of state property by the medical officials. 3. Chernobyl is an ongoing tragedy
My wife grew up in Slovakia, not too far from there. About 2 years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is 32 years old. We continue to hope that it really was confined to the breasts she had removed. I am convinced this resulted from the radiation exposure. It doesn't run in the family.

When Chernobyl happened, they heard about it in news from Austria (the other side of the Iron Curtain), but the communists said nothing. The people disbelieved the news from Austria.

Don't get me wrong. The government there didn't lie because they were communist. The government lied because it was a government, and governments lie. I see from this cancer patient's protest that the Ukraine government is still lying.

Your government would lie to you too if it happened here. Actually, it already is: reactors should be shut down as is being done in Germany; deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico should be discontinued, instead they are approving new permits using the same known-defective blowout preventers.

We need to change this. We need to overturn the present system, worldwide.
