What defines the Republican Party since Reagan
Selling off of our public sector, our "Commons", to private "for-profit" interests.

Hence the demoralizing of "government" by the rightwing for the last 30 years.
They dump all negatives, real or imagined, under the label of "government".
All day, nonstop, on radio and TV for the last 20 years at least. An endless corporate-driven propaganda campaign.

That's how see it.

1. Corporotocracy (R)
Edited on Fri Apr-15-11 08:46 AM by SpiralHawk
Plutocrats with the legal protection of corporations dead intent upon putting the proles (US citizens) into a permanent subclass of servitude. To do this, the Republicons have totally abandoned honesty, integrity, compassion, and honor. They employ cesspool ethics to work their materialist reductionist will upon the world.

2. Saying "no" reflexively to any proposal
by a Democrat. Hell, it's so bad that a Democratic lawmaker could propose changing Washington, D.C. to Reaganopolis and the first thing a Republican would do is say no because a Democrat had proposed it. No concept of compromise for the good of the country.

3. Pissing off liberals..
That pretty much rules everything they do or say, and all positions they take stem from that regardless of consistency or hypocricy.

Unfortunately I see the inverse (pissing off conservatives) coming to define the Democratic party in the past 2 years. I hope common sense rules out and we can stem that tide from being irreversible.

5. I would say DEMONIZING GOVERNMENT and actively giving
Tax cuts as a step in destroying the safety net.
(The smaller the amount of money(revenues) going
into government the smaller the amount of money
will be there to spend on Safety Net(Entitlements).

Just an example: I am old enough to remember
when Medicare was all a Senior needed. It totally
covered all bills glasses, etc. Medigap Insurance
was not even heard of. That is how generous the
Medicare was. Cutting taxes meant they could
cut cut cut Medicare. Now you must also buy
extra insurance unless you are very poor.

6. A softer form of fascism
which, as Mussolini himself said, is the fusion of corporate and governmental power. They don't need to tar and feather people, which the Italian Fascisti did, because they can manipulate the minds of a majority of the sheepopulace through their total control of the media.

10. Doublethink
Simultaneously believing that :
if the private sector can turn a profit on some activity then the government should not also engage that activity so it does not compete with the private sector

and

if an activity is not profitable, the government should not be doing it.
