The Daily Beast blasts Tea Party hypocrisy
The Tea Party creed is pretty simple: less government, fewer taxes, reduced spending.

Last week, FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey took to the small screen to explain that federal funds shouldn’t be used to support higher education, saying “I don’t think the federal government’s involvement in education has benefited the students of America.” South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint has been vocal in opposition to earmarks for special state projects. And, Rand Paul has been clear about his stance against federal funds for bailouts and Medicare.

But for all the braying about the government’s overspending, many states where Tea Party support is strongest coincide with states that suck up the greatest number of federal dollars per capita.

In ranking the most hypocritical states, we looked at the amount of federal funding each state resident received last year compared to percentage of state population that identifies with the Tea Party, a movement that decries such federal funding. Figures on federal expenditures by state are according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s data on federal grants and payments for the fiscal year 2009. State population is based on the Census Bureau’s most recent state population estimates. Tea Party affiliation data was provided by Rasmussen Reports' most recent polling data for each state, from polls conducted between March and October.

Illuminating article, but "Tea Party hypocrisy" is redundant: After all---and everyone here knows this---these are the very same people who had no problem whatsoever with white-boy Bush running up record-breaking deficits and infringing on LIBERTY! (the baggers' favorite word).
