PROFESSOR: Sarah Palin Probably Staged A Gigantic Hoax About Being Trig's Mother
An interesting footnote has emerged to a theory that raged around the Internet during Sarah Palin's candidacy for Vice President:

The theory is that Sarah Palin is actually the grandmother of her purported son Trig, not the mother, and that she staged a gigantic hoax during the campaign to cover up this fact.

Professor Bradford Scharlott of Northern Kentucky University has looked into this story in detail and written a long academic article about it. He concludes two things:
• First, that the "conspiracy theory" is likely true--Sarah Palin staged a huge hoax, and, second,
• The American media is pathetic for not pursuing the story more aggressively

Scharlott's article walks through all the evidence supporting the theory, including the photos of Palin in what is said to have been a late-stage pregnancy, the leisurely 20-hour trip home that Palin took after she supposedly went into labor in Texas, the refusal of the hospital where Trig was supposedly born to even confirm that he was born there (let alone who was the mother), strange statements from Palin's doctor and the McCain campaign, and so on.

If the story is true, it does say something about the media. (In addition to the lies.)

4. I think Sarah Palin covered it up...
...and it seemed obvious during the time this story was in the press.

I'll never forget the look on Bristol's face as she held that baby. She has so much love, motherly love in her eyes. Conversely,
I never saw Sarah look at Trig that way. She carried him around as if he was a sack of potatoes--very detached from him.

It's not a question (for me anyway) that Trig is really Bristol's son.

7. pathetic.
and stupid. oh, and just because someone has the word professor affixed to their name doesn't and shouldn't automatically bestow legitimacy, expertise or intelligence. plenty of assholes are professors.

15. I agree.
Personally, I don't think that the idea is necessarily impossible, but the prospect of it being taken seriously because a "professor" believes it is irrational at best.

13. One question that keeps bugging me, is what - if anything - has this
woman done to articulate any specific proposals on disabilities?

Obviously, this little boy is growing up and although it's none of my business, because she made such an effort to make him a part of the family during the campaign, he became known to America. Has he received the special therapy and developmental assistance a Downs Syndrome child needs? She was so quick to criticize health-case reform saying it would hurt kids/people with disabilities, yet I haven't read or seen anything she's done or is doing to make his life and that of other kids with disabilities better - especially those hurt by lack of care due to lack of insurance.
