everyone should call their republican congress people and ask them to give up their healthcare and take 10,000 and buy their own healthcare insurance. They don't have the nerve to do it.

1. My Republican congressman has a union pension after retiring on disability for sleep apnea.
It's fucking embarrassing. Plus he gets veteran's benefits, as well. Amazing how someone "of the people" can be so out of touch.

3. Reminds me of Dr. Anthony Harris, whining about his and his family's heathcare
Edited on Fri Apr-15-11 05:25 PM by Urban Prairie
coverage shortly after he took office:

"Maryland physician Andy Harris (R) steamrolled Frank Kratovil, his democratic opponent, by railing against "Obamacare" and vowing to fight to repeal Health Care Reform. But, his first question in his orientation for incoming members of Congress was: Where's my government health care?"

"Republican Andy Harris, a very wealthy anesthesiologist, has argued vehemently for years that "common-sense" market based solutions that ensure decisions are made by patients and their doctors are the only way to control runaway health care costs. Not to mention, protect the fat paychecks he receives from Medicare."

“He stood up and asked the two ladies who were answering questions why it had to take so long, what he would do without 28 days of health care,” said a congressional staffer who saw the exchange.

“Harris then asked if he could purchase insurance from the government to cover the gap,” added the aide, who was struck by the similarity to Harris’s request and the public option he denounced as a gateway to socialized medicine.

4. I started noticing at least twenty years ago
that very often the most conservative, the most opposed to "welfare" of any kind, were those known as double-dippers, or even triple-dippers. They'd retired from the military with a pension. Then worked for some government entity and now had a pension that way. Or retired from a civilian job with social security. Or all of the above.

5. I had a triple bypass a few years ago.
I'm supposed to take $10,000 or even $15,000 (I heard 15 on "Hardball" earlier) and buy insurance on the private market? As if. :eyes:
