Michael Moore: GE Spends $20 Million a Year to Lobby Congress and We Get Stuck With Their Taxes

MICHAEL MOORE ON BUZZFLASH AT TRUTHOUT

The following email was sent out by Michael Moore about corporate tax dodgers:

Do you wonder (like I do) what the tax accountants and executives are doing over at GE this weekend? Frantically rushing to fill out their IRS returns like the rest of us?

Hardly. They're taking the weekend off to throw themselves a big party and have a hearty laugh at all of us. It must really crack them up to see us like suckers scurrying around to make sure we report everything to Uncle Sam -- and even send him a check, if necessary.

The joke's on us, folks. GE and tons of other corporations will have a tax bill for 2010 of ZERO. GE had $14.2 billion in profits in 2010. Yet they will contribute NOTHING to the federal government while every last dime is soaked from us.

1. Hear! Hear! Dirty leeches. And in the meantime, THEY have healthcare,
THEIR kids go to college, THEY drive the best cars, EAT the best food, LIVE in the finest homes, TAKE MORE than one vacation a year, and we get

NOTHING!

2. Someone, anymore, has to be really really Stupid and/or on the Take not to

understand how corrupt the NEW USA is ... I have absolutely no idea why if anyone were intelligent, talented and educated and had other opportunities why they would possibly immigrate to the US anymore. When I was a kid there were a lot of reasons, but anymore - NO.

3. GE didn't have a zero tax bill
They had a $3.2 billion credit. Their effective tax rate on that $14.2 billion in profits (not sales, profits) was -22.5%. Wouldn't you like the tax code if you got an extra $22.50 for every $100 you didn't spend? And if you got to spend with slightly less constraint than a drunken sailor on shore leave? Is it any wonder that GE's media outlet, the National Broadcasting Company, doesn't cast a critical eye on the tax code?

5. LOL - I've heard that my entire life. The corps. and gov. are now
synonymous. Little is going to get done IMO to clean up tax loopholes. It's now gone way too far. A few percentage of the entire population now run and control the country. The gov. is just window dressing for the masses.
