4. They have proven they do not believe education is important. |
|
Secondly when they kill the Unions and make this a Right to Work (hostile to unions) Country, wages can lowered and people will not need much education for the low paying jobs.

6. As George Carlin once said: |
|
"They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fuckin’ years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it."

13. Money is not the problem in education |
|
The US spends more per student than almost any other country in the world.
And yet there are two dozen countries who spend a great deal less who are kicking our butts in student performance, some so massively so that we have real reason to fear that the next generation will not be able to compete effectively with them.
If we can figure out why this is the case and how to get the results others are getting, the funding issue would be moot; we'd spend less AND get properly-educated students, where we have neither benefit today.

14. Where does that money go? |
|
It sure as hell doesn't go to the teachers or the students. Unless they're in rich white schools.

15. That's a great question in general |
|
we spend massively across the board but most of the money seems to disappear before it reaches its intended destination... and this applies to a lot more than education
I bet if we drilled down into the details we'd find that a great deal of it is going to Wall St. for various financing schemes in the manner of the Jefferson County sewer project.

16. Jeez, the question answers itself. |
|
All conservatives are not stupid, but by God, every uneducated, ignorant hyper-religious racist redneck bigot in the land is drawn to conservatism like flies to cow shit. They just can't help themselves!
Bottom line: The less educated the citizenry is, the more dumbfrack republican voters there are. QED.
