Can a supermarket be sued for
Not selling a crucial item in a poor neighborhood while always having that item available in a wealthy community? (Same grocery chain)

2. Yes

you can sue anyone for anything, just ask Orly Taitz. Good luck winning vs. their legal department, though.

As stated a picket would be cheaper, more effective, and less frustrating.

4. I'm not aware of any laws requiring stores to sell anything.
I guess you can sue for anything, that doesn't mean you will win.

7. What is the item and what makes it "crucial"?
I live in a shit neighborhood and can't get 95% of the awesome vegetarian or vegan items that Whole Foods or Trader Joe's has...but I can sure as hell get almost anything you can name which is processed and most importantly, cheap. Plus high Hispanic population = tons of Mexican specialties, but next to nothing Kosher, Asian or from other ethnic groups.

These stores serve their clientele in the best way they can, by supplying demand. If you really want a certain item stocked in your local store then find at least a half dozen other people who agree with you and each call and mail the store asking for said item(s).

They rarely order just for one person, but if a small group of you request something they'll likely get it, imagining that the item will sell out at least once.

9. Fried eggs, as the man said.
Free-range of course, not pen laid. Healthy, well exercised eggs are happier eggs.

12. Baby formula?
The expensive kinds are some of the top shoplifted items, along with small cosmetics and razor blade cartridges. If that is the case, they might sell it but you might have to ask for it because it is in a locked case and/or away from view.

8. If it's that crucuial
Rent a storefront next to the supermarket and sell the product. Make money, serve the community, and deliver a big F-U to the supermarket all at once. AND you can create jobs in the process!

Solve the problem a lot faster and cheaper than lawyers will, that's for sure.

10. I protest by growing my own veggies
and would have my own chickens if my neighbors would agree to it.

:-)

Come to think of it, my neighbors all protest....they have many fruit trees and we trade. I haven't bought a lemon in a looonnggg time, along with oranges and limes and grapefruit. They get lettuce and artichokes and jalapenos.

Guess I'm lucky that I have a yard that can support a garden....even tho the yard is small.
