Possibly one of the greatest scenes in movie history:

on edit: If you haven't seen the whole movie, here's a plot synopsis for context:

1. K&R. Hard to believe, since I remember when he received his special Oscar.
Edited on Sat Apr-16-11 06:38 AM by Rhiannon12866
And I remember that scene, clearly a tear jerker and one of his best. ;( :applause:

On edit: But I don't remember the movie first run... :D

3. I was just watching several CC silent films recently,
courtesy of Netflix. The man was brilliant. Multiple messages in one simple act and no spoken word. Kick for Sir Charles.

10. I have the restored version of "Limelight"
It's very long talkie. A portrait of a washed out vaudeville singer who is reinvigorated by a young woman.

12. People
People think of him more as a comedian but he was so much more than that. He edited his films, produced them, wrote the music and directed them. Maybe he was a control freak but he was also a perfectionist. His styles and techniques have been copied by just about everyone. I admire him as a filmmaker. Just look at this scene from the kid.No dialog is necessary.

I am shamelessly bumping this thread because we all could use a little bit of Charlie Chaplin right now!

If Chaplin gave the speech he gave in THE GREAT DICTATOR at a Tea Party Rally they would have killed him!

Wasn't Charlie a Socialist?
