Weiner: There is no ‘bill fairy,’ GOP budget plan won’t work

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show Friday night to talk about the House budget vote, which no Democrats supported. A big problem with the Republicans’ budget plan, he said, was that it shifts burdens from the federal budget to local budgets — meaning, it’s still taxpayer money.

“Only one side is really being honest about it,” he said. “Tax burden gets redistributed without us really noticing. It’s not like when you make those cuts, the bill fairy comes in and pays for them.”

Watch the clip below, from The Rachel Maddow Show, originally broadcast April 15, 2011, on MSNBC

1. But... Is there a "bill confirmed-bachelor"?
Sorry, I just heard a joke on NPR about the "Solstice Rabbit", the "Winter Fat Guy", and the "Tooth Confirmed Bachelor".

3. That ain't the worst shift it makes
Any tax savings you get (and it won't be much unless you're filthy rich) will be more than eaten up by increased costs of health care.

In other words you'll still be paying but you'll pay it to insurance companies instead of the government.

Big whoop.

4. He said he'd like to see no taxes if he could figure it out
Tariffs won't get us to zero taxes in this era. But it might just help to bring jobs back to our shores thus increasing the number of tax payers. There's a start.

So long as we've got the Republicans pulling out their hair and ripping at their clothes in classic right wing tantrums - why not bring up reinstating tariffs. Remind some and teach others some of our nation's economic history.
