12. I understand.
That is the important step now. Protests only go so far, whether or not the traditional media covers them. I have stopped caring whether or not they cover them. We are the media.

I expect the traditional media to be all over this pukefest going on today.

I have quite a bit of family north of the border. (I am about ninety minutes from Madison). Even the most involved of them don't have much info on what is happening with Kloppenburg at the moment. I do hope there is more going on behind the scenes than has been indicated.

I think you are going to need some real watchdogs out there for the recall elections. Get poll watchers and as many outside observers as you can. Stay within the law, but watch out for dirty deeds. They will do anything to stay in power.

the hidden precursors of KKK lynch mobs, witch hunts and Nazi rallies look like.Sweet and covertly simple foolish isolationists motivated by fear cultured and used by those who lust for greed and power.

I used to wonder how the atrocities of our world could have ever come to pass. Now I see how many, well
meaning, willing people can be lead without reason to relish in their commitment.

75. Fund has been pushing the voter fraud crap since the 1990's
Fund is one of the notorious Wall Street Journal editorial page conservatives. He's also been involved with the Collegiate Network, which was one of the groups backing James O'Keefe's early ventures.

Fund wrote a book called "Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy" that was published in September 2004 -- and heavily promoted on cable networks -- just when the GOP was starting to beat that drum particularly hard. He was then among those pushing the charge that ACORN had been involved in voter fraud, starting in 2006.

According to a study available in pdf form at http://departments.oxy.edu/uepi/acornstudy/acornstudy.pdf:

The beginning of the narrative framing for this particular ACORN news story began in 2006, when Republican candidates and operatives began accusing ACORN of a variety of economic and political wrongdoings, including widespread “voter fraud,” and later, triggering the housing meltdown and economic crisis because of its support for mortgages for working class homebuyers and the Community Reinvestment Act. These criticisms of ACORN were then repeated by what has been called the conservative “echo chamber” – publications like the Weekly Standard, American Spectator, and National Review, radio talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh, newspaper columnists like John Fund of the Wall Street Journal, and Fox News Channel pundits like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, as well as conservative websites and bloggers. . . .

By 2008, the conservatives and Republicans, as they attempted to bring the campaign against ACORN to a much wider audience, had laid a solid trail for the mainstream news media to follow. Perhaps the greatest evidence of the intentions of conservatives/Republicans was the transformation of John Fund’s book, Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy. Fund, an editorial writer for the Wall Street Journal and ghostwriter of Rush Limbaugh’s 1993 book The Way Things Ought to Be, made absolutely no mention of ACORN in his first edition of the book in 2004. But, by the release of the revised edition of Stealing Elections in July 2008, the target had changed. Fund included two new chapters demonizing ACORN, including one whose title reflected Malkin’s approach a year earlier and foreshadowed the Republican’s new campaign strategy: “Barack Obama and ACORN: Perfect Together.” . . .

At the Wall Street Journal, six months after the presidential election, editorial writer John Fund continued to level the same charges at ACORN, and added a note of conspiracy: “Washington Democrats are still sweeping Acorn abuses under a rug.”

have to be in Chicago at 5:00 for the nephew's b-day party... So we left before "that woman" stood up to mangle the English Language.

Fear not, my estimate from ground level was that the TeaBaggers were outnumbered probably 5:1. My guess would be 400 or so showed up. From what I can see, the livestream camera is probably halfway between the podium and the street behind. I assure everyone on DU that there are about 2000+ of us behind and surrounding the enclave of dumbosity. Lots of pro-union, pro-worker, pro-sanity peoply intermingled with the tea-partiers as well.

Don't believe the TV. They had a pathetic turnout.
