Curiously, the entire movie is still available on YouTube - and the quality is good even on my 27" computer monitor. From the point where Pink pulls off the worms and transforms into the Hammer Nazi, you can just see a teabagger event. Well, other than the fact that the movie has more people in the audience than there are teabaggers in the entire fucking country. That fact aside, the message is still quite relevant.

As for the movie, I saw it in the theater when it originally came out. At 1:30:00 (by the video on YouTube), the entire audience was quiet. Someone yelled, "BOOM. Come ON, fuckin' BOOM!" At 1:30:02, the wall explodes.

1. Roger Waters has been touring The Wall for the last year
best concert I have ever seen. And he flipped the "message" around quite a bit to fit in with current events. It was nothing short of amazing.

9. Ok.. the original piece was written by Waters in response
Edited on Sat Apr-16-11 02:51 PM by walldude
to the Floyd's 77 tour where the venues were so big and so impersonal that Waters felt like there was a Wall in between him and the audience. It cumulated in Waters spitting on an unruly fan in Canada. So he searched through his life and wrote about all the things that brought him to that point where he did something that disgusted himself. He talked about how each thing in his life was just another brick that helped him isolate himself from the world.

In the new version the songs all remain the same. But the meaning has been changed through the video he uses, to talk about the Walls that are built between all of us. Between right and left, liberal and conservative, East and West.

For example the song Mother was originally about a Mom who because of the loss of her husband in WWII was so overbearing and over protective of her child that it smothered him in a sense. In the new piece through the use of awesome video of camera's watching the audience, the smothering mother became "Big Brother" watching and smothering us all.

In Empty Spaces instead of bombs being dropped the vid showed Religious and Corporate symbols to show the Corporate and Religious takeover of the globe.

During Run Like Hell he showed the Wikileaks video of the helicopter killing a journalist and claiming he was carrying a rocket launcher. The song was dedicated to the journalist.

During Bring The Boys Back Home he showed a video of a little girl in a classroom, into the frame walks her father just returning from Iraq. The look on that girls face, the tears of joy, I looked around me and there was not a dry eye in the house. Grown men crying their eyes out at a concert. It was... I have goosebumps just thinking about it.

I heard more than one person comment on the way out of the show that they were not the same person they were when they went in. Now that is Rock and Roll. Changing minds and changing the world.

It has not been announced yet but Waters is making another run through the States starting in October. I suggest you don't miss it again. Also a DVD of the London shows taking place in May wiill be released this year.

Sorry for the long post. I am not the WALL DUDE for nothing :)

7. I've often wondered if the song on Meddle "Seamus" was in reference to Seamus
Heaney, just looking at his 1974 work of Poems Door Into the Dark at Amazon, $185 a bit pricey for a used paperback.

From The Peninsula
The sky is tall as over a runway,/ The land without marks so you will not arrive/

But pass through, though always skirting landfall./ At dusk, horizons drink down sea and hill,/ The ploughed field swallows the whitewashed gable/ And you're in the dark again.

10. As a huge Floyd fan I should be able to tell you
if you are right or wrong but this one is beyond me. I will say that the poetry is very similar though, and a guess would be that you are right. All the lyrics on Meddle have that same etherial style..

11. Back in the day.... ah yes back in the day I wore that album out. One of the
greatest albums ever. I have found something you will no doubt enjoy.

http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/2875/

>>LIVERPOOL FC is being cheered. The song being sung in the back ground is "You'll Never Walk Alone", which is sung at the beging and end of every Liverpool game. You'll never Walk Alone draws many similar parralels with the whole theme of "Fearless".

Seems like a prophecy. Roger Waters and David Gilmour were in a very high state of mind when wrote this song, because its real meaning is so deep about present days, that it seems a pure prophecy. Take a look at this site that is using this song, and has a very strong message totally related with this lyric. http://www.godsign.org/<<

You say the hill's to steep to climb, climbing
you say you'ld like to see me try, climbing
you pick the place and I'll choose the time
and I'll climb the hill in my own way
just wait a while for the right day
and as I rise above the tree-line and the clouds
I look down, hearing the sounds of the things you've said today

Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling
mercyless the magistrate turns round, frowning
and who's the fool who wears the crown
go down in your own way
and every day is the right day
and as you rise above the fear-lines in his crown
you look down, hearing the sound of the faces in the growd

You never walk alone, you never walk alone
walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
and you never walk alone, you never walk alone

12. Awesome... Fearless is actually on my bands set list
always been one of my favorites.. Waters had a knack for getting to the heart of things, making much of what they did timeless.

6. And Still... The Bleeding Hearts And The Artists, Make Their Stand...
All alone, or in twos
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall
Some hand in hand
Some gathering together in bands
The bleeding hearts and the artists
Make their stand
And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall after all it's not easy
banging your heart against some mad buggers
Wall
