Campaign idea: The 2012 campaign as Blazing Saddles. |
|
Joe can be the Waco Kid, and he and Sherrif Bart can battle the impotent and whackadoodle lackeys of greed.
I figure the townsfolk work well as the American people, and we already know who'll have to play Lili Von Shtupp. . But who plays Taggart, Hedley, Mongo, and Gov. Lepetomane?
I could SO see a YouTube spoof like this going viral if it were done correctly. The question is, who is diabolical enough in Right field to play Hedley Lamar?
Thoughts?

1. Hedley played by Newt. Mongo played by Trump. Taggart is Louie Gohmert. |

And no one plays the race card to inject divisiveness more than Beck, so he'd play the governor.

especially when you think of the line "Mongo like candy." You could voice that over Trump's newest birther-ism.
I don't know about Newt as Hedley, though. He doesn't really strike me as the leader type. Never has.
ETA: I learned a new name. I'd already heard of Gohmert, but now I know exactly why. Sheesh!

14. I am against it, the "N" word is in that movie and if we open that door we |
|
open the door to everything that goes with it
Let that movie and, it's scene comprised entirely of 10 minutes worth of farting, fade into obscurity where it belongs.

If we ban one word, then other words will be banned and soon whole books. It is a very slippery slope. Mel Brooks made that movie because he could and its a damn funny movie and I know plenty of African Americans who think so as well.

19. Actually, the usage of the N-word in that movie is a GOOD thing for this political climate, |
|
at least in my book.
Hear me out. We have a whole lot of people in this country who are scared to death to talk about the subject of race. There were a myriad of people who opposed President Obama simply because he was black, but most of them were too afraid to say it outright, so they came up with shit like the birther conspiracy. Meanwhile, many people who supported President Obama were and are terrified of calling the racists what they are, for fear of being labelled as "using the race card." (That phrase right there could be a whole debate about legitimizing racism.)
This movie doesn't treat the topic of racism with kid gloves. It lays it out bare, and if it makes people uncomfortable, it does so rightfully, because race relations in this country are fucked up and it's long past time we talked about it.
Another possible debate topic: A postracial society is one in which the word "postracial" never gets used.
