GOP: Entitlements Bad, Corporate Welfare Good
By Michael Barnes

We hear a lot said about ‘entitlements’.

The same way that the Right, with the corporate news media as willing accomplices, changed the connotation of the word ‘liberal’, they have started changing the perception of the word ‘entitlement’.
First, let’s take a look at a dictionary definition from Merriam Webster:
a) The state or condition of being entitled, right, a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract, b) a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group; also: funds supporting or distributed by such a program, c) belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges.

In the course syllabus at the Edward Bernays, Joseph Goebbels, Karl Rovian School of manipulating public opinion, better known as Propaganda U, potential GOP and Tea Party organizers are taught to frame the debate. One of the ways they’re instructed to do this is to take a word that is associated with something good, and associate it with something that is not perceived as good.

This is a process.

4. They won't need a draft with a ready supply of unemployed cannon fodder.
The problem is as stated by Tweed:

You can always hire half the poor to kill the other half.

That's the real problem, that people are persuaded to do this.

3. Correction: EARNED BENEFITS such as social security and medicare are bad in their view
and they see corporations as being ENTITLED to taxpayer money.

Don't promote GOP framing.
