My signs for today - Madison

This morning, after a week of rapidly-changing focus here in Wisconsin, I finally scribbled out my signs for today's Counter TeaBag Rally. It seems that Palin and the Koch-funded AfP astroturfers bring in the shitty weather, because by the time the rally was done, it was snowing. I got a little separated from most of my group, so while they were over in the crowds, blowing their horns like crazy, I had a special little spot along the make-shift fence where they were letting cops and various TeaBaggers through. Most of the people around me were teabaggers who thought they had found the ideal spot from which to view the speakers. Little did they know I'd be there with a very annoying horn, which I blew almost constantly throughout their rally. I got pushed around a little, and one guy kept leaning into my sign, and telling me to keep it off of him, but at least I didn't get shot at or anything.

There were a few other democracy-supporters in my area, so I wasn't entirely alone, but I also was reassured because most of the line of cops on the other side of the fence know me from our weeks in the Capitol. I knew that they would help out immediately if there was a problem. They've been awesome at keeping the peace.

So, here are pictures of my sign, and then the big sign that some friends put up along the wall next to the rally. That was entertaining in itself, because a couple of mean-looking "security" goons from AfP were trying to order my friends to leave and to take their sign down, but we haven't spent the last 8 weeks fighting for our Capitol for nothing! We stayed, the signs stayed, and, best of all, the horns and other noisemakers stayed.

I'm completely wiped out from being buffeted in the wind with my sign for three hours, and being pushed around by rude teabaggers, but it felt good to let a few teabaggers know what I thought of them and their little parade of "stars."

I think that there are a lot of good lessons to be learned from much of literature, including the Bible - a lot of not-so-good lessons, too, but I prefer to focus on the good ones. HOW ON EARTH can these people claim to be Christians? They are killing our earth and our old people and our babies and our jobs... I don't know where they are learning these things, but I simply can't believe that these are the lessons that Jesus would have taught. (wow, sorry about the rant! :blush: )

I had to leave right before Palin spoke but very much enjoyed being in the crowd for a few hours. The speeches I did hear, especially Vicki McKenna, were predictable and pathetic. We had them outnumbered and we were more vocal and enthusiastic. Weather sucked, but that's ok.
