Thread-lock ...
Edited on Sat Apr-16-11 09:35 PM by PCIntern
Today I was able to keep an patient's implant abutment from unscrewing utilizing a thread-lock material which almost completely prevents an unscrewing under a crown, which causes a loosening of the prosthesis with few reasonable ways to retighten the screw. The dentist either would have to drill a hole in the crown and tighten it down, thus ruining the biting-surface porcelain, OR
(s)he would have to tap out with a back-action hammer so hard that there would be a significant risk to the integrity of the multi-thousand dollar implant.

Oh...you thought I was talking about this place...Nah. Just technical stuff from my work...

5. It's a good thing there was a camera in your computer recording everything you just said and did,
because I'm gonna need to replay it to make sense of that.

7. I never thought you would be talking about dental implants.
On Wednesday I am getting bone grafts to prepare for the implants. Now I have something else to worry about...before reading about the thread-lock all I worried about was sneezing. All I can remember from what the dentist told me is that I should not sneeze. It will be all I think about doing after the surgery is over:)
