Your tax dollars at 'work'
Time published a little show and tell about the cost of military aircraft. Althought this stuff is expensive, Navy ships are the winner in the MIC Pigs at the Trough contest.

$94 million dollars:

$102 million dollars:

$118 million dollars:

$122 million dollars (NOTE: I disagree with the price tag on this beast. The F-35 program has been in the pits since its inception and the level of dishonesty about what this aircraft costs has been incredible. I think the cost of the F-35 is closer to $243 million than the $122 million cited in this dog and pony show. Why else would the Navy piss and moan about having to buy $94 million dollar F/A-18s until the F-35 'works'?) :

$232 million dollars:

$241 million dollars:

$290 million dollars:

$328 million dollars:

$350 million dollars:

$2.4 billion dollars:

If you want to know why the national infrastructure is falling apart, find out how many of each of these aircraft we own.

If you want to know why cities and towns across America are falling apart, find out how many of each of these aircraft we own.

If you want to know why policemen, firemen and teachers are being laid off, find out how many of each of these aircraft we own.

If you want to know why the United States is $14+ trillion dollars in debt, find out how many of each of these aircraft we own.

1. That would buy a lot of pencils for my classroom
And hire a lot of out of work teachers too.

Oh well, our priorities are on killing people, not educating them.

4. Thank you for all your posts.
We could be developing high tech energy systems, organic sustainable agriculture, walkable cities and towns, free colleges and universities, a functional health care system... but instead we waste our resources on this crap.
