Yesterday, Brunch with the Girls Turned Political (again)
My girlfriend (the republican who just now joined the teacher's union...go figure) said that NPR did a huge expose on the Climate Change people supporting the Fox News claim that they had deliberately lied in their reports. I vaguely remember the climate change hoax people, and seem to remember that they were the ones who were widely discredited. I told her Juan Williams is a common link between NPR and Fox...was he the reporter. She said she didn't know.

Please help me politely spank my ditto monkey. PLEASE??? She has turned so anti-war after the election of Obama that I *really* want a proper (but polite) "Bless your heart" moment. :)

3. My search for "NPR Climate Change" has no mention of her claim

Nothing that might indicate that anyone or anything associated with NPR thinks that Climate Change is a hoax.

In fact the opposite is true.

I would try to question her on the specifics of her claim (because they seem to be false). If you can send her a video or a link to a video then maybe try this one.

NPR officers compare deniers of climate change to birthers and flat earth believers

Good luck.

4. I don't know what she heard
but a cursory glance at the Google News search page on the term 'climate change,' returning hits from NPR's website sorted by date, show nothing of the sort:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22climate+change%22+site:npr.org&hl=en&biw=1003&bih=597&tbm=nws&source=lnt&tbs=sbd:1&sa=X&ei=N_GqTa_5M8ry0gG00pz5CA&ved=0CBgQpwUoAQ

You may search back further, but I don't expect anything supporting her specious claim. In fact, I found the converse to be true, as revealed in the transcript in the link below:

Scientists Often Pigeonholed By Political Debates

April 11, 2011

During a Congressional hearing on climate science, physicist Richard Muller was expected to testify on the side of climate change skeptics. Instead, Muller announced his team found a warming trend. Muller says scientists are often challenged to insulate findings from political pressures.

much more...

5. More background on Fox "news" favorite climate story
Here's another article that details why the leaked emails became the fossil fuel industry PR "Climategate" that Fox "news" ran with for months until it has become an article of faith among the unwitting supporters of Big Oil:

http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2009/11/climategate

Here's more background about the well funded climate change denial campaign's efforts worldwide:
http://motherjones.com/environment/2009/12/climate-deniers-atlas-foundation

Here's a Guardian UK story about the much bigger distortion of climate change news that has been ongoing for years and continued in spite of pledges by Exxon Mobil to stop:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/jul/01/exxon-mobil-climate-change-sceptics-funding

The real "Climategate" in my opinion is the millions poured into convincing the public not to believe their lying eyes about extreme climate disruptions they have seen all around them.
