Pueblo attorney's push for nuclear plant draws a lot of heat
Source: Denver Post

Banner's plan to take 24,000 acres southeast of town and turn it into a "Clean Energy Park," with a nuclear power plant as its centerpiece, has galvanized Pueblo.

1. Great euphemism -- "clean energy park." He must be a Republican.
I also love this quote: "But here's the hitch, one that Banner freely concedes: There is no money, developer, committed transmission line or customer for the nuclear power plant."

4. The Energy of 'Corporate Socialism'
The article reveals that already the proponent of this nuclear power plant is dependent upon subsidies from the taxpayer:

Banner filed an application with the county planning commission for a zoning change, designation of the land as a "planned unit development" and vested rights so the designation couldn't be changed.

All this would create sweeping development powers.

He also asked that all but $100 in fees be waived for the project until there is a developer. The county has already spent more than $15,000 evaluating the plan, Nuñez said.

"If the county has to bend its rules to make this happen, then bend the rules," Banner said in a February letter to the planning commission.

The 'free market' could never build an atomic power plant -- this kind of electricity generation needs all kinds of money and special dispensations from governments (ie., you and me the taxpayers) in order to get built and operate.

Nuclear power plants are the energy of 'corporate socialism'!!!
