Did anybody from their side even show up?

11. Here is an aerial pic of the crowd, showing the tea party areas
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 10:36 AM by eowyn_of_rohan
I've outlined the appx areas that were mostly occupied by the teabaggers. It was 99% OUR SIDE everywhere else. There were a few sprinkled among our crowd, as close as they could get to the stage. The bagger organizers put up a tall partition on the left side (in this pic) of the sidewalk leading up to the Capitol. This was to block off the counter protestors. For awhile we hung out there and put our signs up above the partition. Then we moved over to the other side. ALL DAY more protestors were marching around the square, and many more were hanging out on the opposite side of the square for the organized labor rally. The unions encouraged their members not to go to the Palin side, but many still did.

The police estimate of the crowd was 6,500. Despite what is being said, I don't believe the baggers made up more than about 10%.

13. I expect teabagger bloggers (and the corporate media)
to estimate the 'bagger crowd at eleventy brazillion or thereabouts.

even our own local channels! Biased toward the baggers, criticizing us for being disrespectful and closed minded etc.

18. Not your typical T-Party rally
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 11:31 AM by JohnnyRingo
In the past the right hasn't been taken very seriously and have seen little opposition at the tax day clatches, but it took the Wisconsin Walker Fiasco to shed light on their ironically freedom quashing agenda.

It was almost amusing that Palin and others claim Walker did the workers a favor by revoking their freedom to organize while receiving cheers from people who held "Live free or die" flags. How about if a state with a dem governor canceled one of their rally permit and told them he was saving them gas money and park maintenance costs? "See, he's doing you a favor".

I'm glad to see the turnout. Thanx for sharing.

19. RE THEIR hijacking of the Live Free or Die motto
A number of people on OUR side carried those flags yesterday too. Which side best represents the spirit behind that concept? We think ours does!

27. I doubt they see the irony in outlawing the worker's freedom to organize
Once their Republicans raise the age of retirement to 70 years of age, these Tea Baggers will be at the drive-up window at McDonalds instead of rallies. "Look, they did you a favor by keeping you active."

24. you are right -none of it did! And they tried to shame us on the evening news
I was upset about that because I was PROUD of our side, and we worked HARD. Someone warned me yesterday that this is exactly what the MSM would do. I didn't want to believe it.

26. i'm sorry.
the media is the biggest impediment to progress in this country. they refuse to report on the news. even npr pisses me off half the time because of their right wing over - coverage. people who get their news from the tv are simply not getting the news.

30. Write letters and emails to local and national
traditional media outlets. Call local outlets, too.

I did that for a long time. I was always reasonable. But after awhile, they got to know who I was, and started treating me like a rabid animal. Other people needed to help me with this, so they would be inundated with calls. I never got the help I needed.

I think I will start up again, anyway. I am sure that some of the people I spoke with agree with me. They just weren't allowed to say anything.
