Sen. Harsdorf Recall Effort Has 110% of Signatures Needed For Recall, Working Toward 125%
Sat, 04/16/2011 - 9:45pm | Jud Lounsbury

From today's Inter-County Leader:

Those gathering signatures to force incumbent State Senator Sheila Harsdorf into a recall election in June have indicated they have collected more than the 15,000-plus signatures needed.

Harsdorf is one of eight sitting Republican state senators targeted for recall in the wake of Gov. Scott Walker's state budget proposal that sharply curtailed collective bargaining rights for public workers, including teachers. Republicans are targeting eight sitting Democratic senators. The goal of both sides is to gain/keep control of the senate, currently controlled by the GOP.

Organizers of the effort to recall Harsdorf say they are currently looking at six potential candidates to run against Harsdorf in the recall election.
The effort to collect signatures has resulted in 110 percent of the signatures needed but the group wants to get 125 percent before filing their petition. That will provide a safe margin, they say, when signatures are challenged by the opposition.

While the Harsdorf's district does lean-Republican, a March 15 Public Policy Polling poll showed that Harsdorf is vulnerable: She polled below 50% (48%) in a run against a generic Democrat and her approval rating was only 43%.

Plus, Kloppenburg won her district %51.2 to %48.8.
If the Dems can find the right candidate, this is definitely a seat they could pick-up. ........................

9. They better get at least 133% because the repuks will discredit at least 25% more if they can
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 10:38 AM by krawhitham

13. Awesome! I saw last night on someone's twitter feed that GROTHMAN
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 11:00 AM by eowyn_of_rohan
(he called us slobs) may be in trouble - said only 400 more signatures needed! Not sure if it is accurate but they thought there'd be no chance to recall him as his district is so red.

edit- they actually need 400 people to step up and get 20 to 30 signatures each by 5/1 to be sure to recall Grothman.
