You might also want to include your part in the Afghanistan War: http://rethinkafghanistan.com/iou/

Tried running GE's numbers, but there were none.

Student financial aid for college

Employment training for people with disabilities and additional education and job services

Veterans Benefits

Income and housing support

Health care

Energy supply and conservation

Pollution control and other natural resources, energy and environment

International Affairs

Science, Space, and Technology Programs

NASA

National Science Foundation, additional science research, and laboratories

Does anyone still want to argue the debt is no big fucking deal?

10. If the rich and if corporations paid a higher percentage of their
earnings or profits in taxes, we could solve the deficit problem in just a few years.

2. They cut "Veterans Benefits" out of "War Budget"
In order to reduce military spending from 30.4% to 26.3%.
Gee, where oh where could we introduce real savings?

War:
Ongoing operations: 10.5%.

5. Separately funded and not part of the deficit problem.
SS and medicare payroll taxes fund SS and medicare. The deficit is created on the other side of the fence, where 30 years of reaganesque income tax revenue sabotage has caused a revenue crisis. The solution? Cut medicare and social security to subsidize tax cuts for billionaires using payroll tax revenue.

6. Just using the calculator provided at the above WH link and not even actual figures...
just using the example income levels provided. In each instance the tax dollars are substantially higher for SS and Medicare.

"Your 2010 Federal Taxpayer Receipt

In his State of the Union Address, President Obama promised that this year, for the first time ever, American taxpayers would be able to go online and see exactly how their federal tax dollars are spent. Just enter a few pieces of information about your taxes, and the taxpayer receipt will give you a breakdown of how your tax dollars are spent on priorities like education, veterans benefits, or health care."

Same thing with the graph on where my taxes go, link below, 40% of taxes go to fund SS, Medicare and Medicaid ... at a glance you can tell which programs need to be cut!

Many people will not go past that first glance.

8. Agreed, what conclusion should be drawn from the graph and the calculator...
SS, Medicare and Medicaid are the obvious villains that suck up our tax dollars ... maybe I'm missing something.
