6. "If men could have babies, abortion would be a sacrament." Old bumper sticker. |

If men had babies, we would have a matriarchy that "kept us in our place". Maybe that's more essentialist than is popular today, but I can't get around it.

7. I don't know why it's even referred to as a "right"... |
|
What happens inside a woman's uterus is her business... and the father, if he's involved, but to a lesser degree.
Everybody else needs to BTFO.

8. In a recent discussion, a man said he couldn't tolerate abortions for the sake of "inconvenience." |
|
"And if you were the one carrying the baby inside you, I would feel you were in a better position to be the one judging the inconvenience of carrying a child" was my response.
This is the same person who is fine with abortion if both parties agree, but thinks that if a woman wants the child and the man doesn't that he should be able to sign away all rights and responsibilities -- just completely walk away... and if the man wants the child and the woman wants to abort, that the woman should be forced to carry the child to term if the man will take full legal responsibility for the pregnancy.
Sorry, you can't have it both ways buddy. About the only thing he's saying women shouldn't have done to them is *make* them kill their own child -- a woman choosing to have sex with you does NOT give you license to use her as an incubator against her will at some point in the future. I'd be willing to concede the idea of letting men permanently sign away their rights and responsibilities to a child, as long as there were safety nets in place to support the mother and the child if they went on public assistance (as it stands the state will sue the father for child support even if the mom doesn't want them to if she has to go on public assistance), in exchange for the right to not be used as an incubator.
But if you want an object to nurture your child... invent one. I am not an object. I am not a slave to my uterus even if I choose to have sex.
