I am compiling data re. big box stores vs. locally owned stores. Does anyone have any good links?

Thom Hartmann has some good info in his book, "Rebooting the American Dream", in the chapter on "Stop Them from Eating My Town."

I would appreciate any links you might have.

In my town we have lost all the old time stores from hardware to auto to shoe repair and lunchettes,,, its all been replaced. The show guy is in the mall, all the hardware places have given up to Lowes or Home Despot... that really don't know what a "watch-you-ma-call-it" is. locally even our dollar stores are closing due to larger chains...go figure.
