For tax day, I'm adding something to my sig: |
|
"I paid more in taxes than GE, Exxon, Boeing, Chevron, and Bank of America combined and all I got was this lousy Tea Party calling me "socialist"."
Not a complete list, but I was keeping it short. If I were set up to make buttons and t-shirts, I'd make those too.

1. Congress is responsible for the tax code. |
|
If you don't like it, try voting for someone else next time.

2. So you know what CD OP is in? |

And you're quite sure that someone on DU voted Republican?
Shouldn't snark have a common sense basis to be effective?

8. I've never accused anyone on DU of voting Republican |

The problem is the entrenched power of professional, career politicians of all stripes. Their interests are tied to those of corporations.
Shouldn't snark have a common sense basis to be effective?
What snark? I'm just calling it as I see it.

10. Well, that's a more productive comment than your first one. |

I'd argue the problem isn't simply entrenchment, it's the cost of campaigns, which leads to the constant fund-raising and acquiescing to the interests of their big, reliable donors: corporations and wealthy individuals who benefit from the same sort of low-tax policies.
There are a number of ways of addressing that, but they all take some explanation and don't fit on a sig line, nor button, bumper sticker, poster, shirt, or any other means of putting it in front of most peoples' eyeballs.
So for today, I stuck a slogan in my sig line. By itself, it won't change jack shit. But it's one little thing to remind people that taxes are not too high for some people that that wasn't there this morning. And this is not the only place I'll be bringing that up.

I was thinking , wasn't it not so very long ago that "they" were using the line "freedom isn't free"?But now they are yelling about having to pay taxes? I guess that makes sense in their little brains. A strong country with happy people doesn't some cheap.
And you know, I would let those corporations off the hook for their taxes IF they can show me exactly what good they have done for the average American. Why isn't GE doing something that can give us a safe energy source that does not harm our environment. Hmmm...you'd think with all the money they make, they would WANT to give something back.
If I had a job, I would be glad to pay taxes.(of course I would like to see my taxes used to help people but I am not so sure that even voting for whom I see as the best choice is really that choice).
