What does a Republican stand for??
To me, they are walking contradictions. They are against government spending but they are some of the largest recipients of government largesse. They hate SS and Medicare but are the first in line to get it. They love their military pensions, especially if they can get a high percentage disability to go along with it, some deserving and some not so much. They seem to love everything about the government except the taxes it costs to keep it going.

I'm wondering. Just what does a Republican stand for??

1. Stealing your last dime to benefit themselves or their croneys
Everything they say or do is just a prelude to this.

2. Me first and fuck you
Sorry for the language, but it best captures the sentiment I've perceived.

6. No need to apologize. It is what it is.
Every one I know feels the same way you describe.

Incredibly, I know one who constantly complains about how management screws over him and other workers, and how corporations run roughshod over the democratic process. Yet, he says if he were running a company he'd do the same thing :wtf:

5. They stand for a second America, not the one you and I inhabit
When they talk about "the American People", they are referring to the Koch brothers and their ilk. They are referring to Exxon, Chevron, Shell,Tesoro, BP. There are two Americas and different classes of Americans. The Republicans support wholeheartedly, the ultra rich..you and your family could be brutally murdered tomorrow and not one would be even vaguely interested or concerned in any way...You don't count in their equation.

they ARE against government entitlements for SS, medicare, medicaid but are perfectly happy to give a few billion dollars in refunds" to corporations who paid zero taxes...We do not count to the Republican Party! Most conservative voters believe in the GOP platform, they just are ignorant in that they will never be on that platform! They actually believe they have an opportunity to walk with and sit at the same table as a Koch, CEO of BP, own multiple vacation mansions in .exotic locales...

9. They stand for the anthem if someone is watching.
But that's about it.

Point being...they take a stand on what benefits them and not what benefits the whole.

15. aside from free market enterprise
Doing everything in their power to make America like it was in the very beginning: backwards, racist, and psycho religious. Blatant stance against all of the GOOD things we have accomplished in our history: Reform, Progressive movements, regulation, social welfare programs.

18. "Me, myself, and I"
Which partly explains why they're never any good at government: they generally have little interest in anything beyond their own accumulation of money and power.
