The return to tribalism in the USA. 21st century style
While we, as a nation, decry tribalism in far-flung warlike places, we are doing it here.

Our tribes are less of the flesh and more of the psyche.

We have the Birther tribe who cannot wrap their brains around the idea that a black man can be, and IS president

We have the Crotch tribe that will not allow any female crotch to be unwatched/unguarded/unlegislated

We have the Super-Jesus tribe who believes with every fiber of their being, that no non-Jesus tribe should have any rights, and the Super Jesus tribe should be able to mark all territory as theirs and theirs alone, Forever and ever, Amen.

We have the Red tribe, brought to you by the letter "R".. They support anything in government that is supported by people who follow their name with an "R", even if the other tribe members have no idea what they are proposing or talking about.. To the red tribe 90% is the same as 3% because of the magic "R". Their shaman leaders have strong powers and have no restraint in using those powers.

We have the Blue tribe, whose members spend so much time bending over backwards, that they cannot see where they are going, and often wander off into dangerous territory, and get stranded in small groups, unable to communicate with the other members of their tribe.

We have the Boss tribe who likes to control the money and workload for all other tribes whenever they can. They play one tribe against the other, even though the physical needs of all tribes pretty much overlap.

We have the Mayhem tribe whose members spend most of their time just making things as miserable as possible for everyone they meet. They use their time destroying whatever they come into contact with, claiming that they are not doing any damage, and anyone who says so is just plain lying.

There are many other obscure tribes, but the above-mentioned tend to be the most prolific ones.

1. The RW teabaggers are not a tribe.
A tribe is a communal organization with some concern at least for its members. I see little evidence of that among the teabaggers.
