Socialist' charge stricken from record
A Republican freshman who referred to “socialist members” of the House in a floor speech last week retracted his remarks but is not apologizing to “thin-skinned” Democrats who were upset by his characterization.

“I was making a point only about an economic system,” Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks told The Birmingham News. “People could quite clearly infer that socialism is what the other guys are promoting,” he said, referring to Democrats.

My question to DUers is WTF is wrong with socialist anyway, everyone acts like it is something terrible, much better than republican.

1. Well as the first thread I saw about this the other day said..........
socialism has MUCH more positive poll numbers than Congress, Republican AND Democratic, so they were upset about being called something that is MORE positive than "Congressman".

I'm sure the Dems were upset about it because that's been the RW boogieman for a century now. I personally wouldn't mind it myself.

Bernie Sanders doesn't mind and neither should other democrats who fight for working people.

3. I would ask that Congressman to name a single country that does not have some socialist policies.
That is what governments do. They take care of "society"
