Poll question: Who will win the republican primary?
Edited on Mon Apr-18-11 11:11 PM by Renew Deal
I've asked who you think will be the http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x881099">toughest challenge before. Romney won that. But who do you think will win in the end?

1. Romney will be nominated.

He is the only one in that group that has even plausible elect-ability. As much as I would love a Bachman, Palin or Trump nomination, not even the Republicans are that stupid in regard to throwing away an election so easily.

2. DUers really believe in Romney
For a bunch of people that think republicans are irrational crazies, many of us think the republicans will make the rational choice. I don't buy it. The republicans DO pick candidates from the top down. This favors Romney. But Romney has been on every side of every issue. I don't think he'll do well in republican purity tests.

3. Romney should have the most money.

I don't think he will blow away the competition. And he is certainly not likely to win Iowa. But he has staying power. He will finish second in a lot of races. He will have the ability to wait everyone out and win the nomination based on attrition.

4. I think Romney will win, but he'll choose a wackjob running mate
like Bachmann or Palin, too appease the Republican crazy caucus.

Expect results similar to the last time.

7. The Other Repubs are the Stuff of Nightmares
Yes, we say the others are all unelectable, but we said that about dubya too,
and now whomever wins the Repig nomination will have billions of corporate
dollars backing them. With that much money, anything is possible.

5. Romney's probably the safest bet now, but I don't know
I'd say the Huckster has a shot if he goes all out. The rest of those choices are dreaming if they think they could get the nomination. I imagine several will run with the goal of being picked as running mate.

Any of them are going to have a difficult time beating Obama. It's not impossible, but it's highly unlikely.

6. Romney/Rubio
I am sticking with my prediction but keep in mind that I thought Rudy 9/11 would win easily in 2010.

12. It makes little difference. Obama will win in 2012 because it's baked into the cake, then it will
be Jeb Bush in 2016. That's the game plan, get used to it. More on this later.
