I'm about to fucking snap with righteous indignation on these right-wing assholes.
I've had a very long and terrible evening visting my mom in the hospital. She's been battling autoimmune disorders for decades and her body is finally beginning to give out.

She has MRSA and the surgeon is suspicious that she might also have a fungal infection. Needless to say, she is in a lot of trouble and a lot of pain. They had to open up her arms and clean out the infection. They'll be doing the same thing for the next several days.

I cannot communicate to you how angry I am. In both a metaphysical sense and a very real-world sense. On the one hand, her illness is the product of a completely unintelligent force. It is the product of pure chance.

On the other hand, her treatment and her level of comfort is based heavily on the technological wonders of modern medicine. Very, very expensive medical technology.

And this is where my rage crosses over from impotency and chaos to anger so tangible and so guided that I would love nothing more than to spit in the faces of every single right-winger in this country.

They have been feeding us an exquisite, gleaming, pile of bullshit for too fucking long. Yes, this is about the excruciatingly high cost of health care that has driven my family into bankruptcy; a festering wound propagated by the fascist goons that have run this country into the ground.

But this is not just about medicine. This is about the right-wing ideology of:

"As long as I get mine, fuck everyone else."

It's about the corporatists who have infiltrated our government and gotten rich off the ignorance and bigotry of the masses. It's about the masses who are so blinded by their hate that they care little about their fellow man.

Well I'm fucking TIRED OF IT. I am tired of the complete incompetence of our leaders. I am tired of this very overt march towards corporate totalitarian rule. It is not a deeply hidden, mischievous path. It's right in front of every one's faces. It's on the television, radio, in the newspapers and pervades the entirety of the public sphere.

It is at it's roots no different than Mussolini or Hitler and their nationalists. It is the same type of knuckle-dragging that has brought us genocidal tendencies and mass poverty and starvation.

It fucking ends now. Not tomorrow. Not after congressional recess. Not after the next election cycle. It needs to end NOW goddamnit.

And as for the rest of your rant? HELL YEAH.

11. It's hard to see our parents go through things like this.
The hardest thing about growing old is seeing mom and pop grow even older. And then to have your mom going through even more...how unbearable.

But all you can do is make mom happy, and make sure you take care of yourself because that makes her happy too.

I'm only 21. She won't live to see her grandchildren graduate from high school or college.

She may not even live long enough to see me graduate from college. But I try not to think of such things because there's no good outcome from doing so.

Regardless of the illness, it's a devastating stress on you. Take care of YOU, too. It's hard to remember that when you are in the middle of a shitstorm.

We actually NEED a Dictatorship of the Proletariat. Capitalists should have NO influence (and I mean NOT ONE FUCKING BIT OF INFLUENCE) over politics for at least 20 years (maybe more). No money invested in politics, not even VOTING rights until this shit political system we have has a SERIOUS colonic.

8. I'm sorry for what your mom
is going through and you as well. I worked in an oncology unit for 9 years and I've seen the devastation physically, emotionally and financially that happens when a family member is battling a life threatening illness. When the health care debate was happening and teabaggers started showing up at town halls screaming and angry about the government giving people healthcare I knew there was something seriously fucked up in this country, the right wing has perverted the role of government and with their "christian" right accomplices they have perverted the teachings of the bible so that people vote to keep gays from marrying and to try to stop women from having abortions. People get upset when the Nazi anaology is used to describe todays ultra-conservative right but I think it's very fitting, they have especially perfected media manipulation to foment hate.

are going through in a way...I had a spinal cord injury that needless to say shattered my career, school, MY LIFE! About a yr into my nightmare as costs began to stack up due to how expensive my care was my insurance dropped me turning my nightmare into living HELL! I can no longer afford to seek some of the more expensive treatments for my problems so I have been given drugs to help with my many issues & left to lie in a bed...Where I have been now for 7yrs! I am 40yrs old now & missing out on what could have been really fun part of life...However, there is a very special woman, my fanatasy goddess, my wife of 15yrs who has stuck it out with me so I am very haappy! And now just waiting on price to come down or medical science to come up with something to help.

I really hope your Mom gets better very soon!

I've been there. One of the hardest things in life is watching your mother go down hill. Mine had ALS and it damn near killed me. It took 3 years to straighten out all the bills and insurance bull shit. That was in 1988 when this was a much better country.

I doubt I would have made if if things were like they were today

27. First and foremost...Healing for your Mom...
these are not easy things, and I understand the intense frustration you and yours are going through

The level of ignorance of the average American is astounding. It is indeed, "well, at least it's not me."...I find that attitude reprehensible.

How an individual that earns $25,000 to support a family of say 3, can actually think that giving someone who makes that same amount of money in 30 minutes, needs a tax break is beyond me. The tho thought that somehow, "socialized medicine" will bring down the country is so astoundingly stupid, I have to wonder just why people buy into that crap. Medicine is supposed to save lives, not drive people into bankruptcy. When I was in the medical field, (not and MD), the greatest feeling we got, and what kept me going was when we "won one". When we could see someone through a debilitating illness through the worst of times, help them out the door and watch tem go home. We worked with entire families, it was not all about, "gee, look at me!" It was a working relationship where were fought to do the best we could, and often won, often lost.

When we lost, I did not walk away from a grieving family, I stayed with them. I didn't have many answers, but I was there, they were not alone. I offered what I could when the tie was coming when closure was inevitable. I was often asked, "what do i do?" The answer I came up with seemed to work most of the time, "go in, clear the table; tell ***you love them,; admit to mistakes and thank them for their support through the years, even during those times of error...clear it all away. Laugh, cry, take your soul out and lay it on the table...there may never be another chance. Above all, be honest...or you will spend the rest of your life lying to yourself. He/she will understand, as will you."

I cannot count the "thank you's" I received; not the cursory one's, but the one's where people look you in the eye and share a part of their soul. Some people were mean...95% were honest and closure was quick.

May your Mom's pain be taken car of adequately, (and remember, you can fight for pain control for her too!). I wish you relief, even if only a brief respite. This si not a singular event, it affects many...

Having been through a similar experience with my mother, I appreciated how reliant we all are on things like Medicare and even medicaid at the end of life (or simply during life-and-death medical problems)....And how unhelpful private insurers can be.

And I imagine that right wingers have parents or go through their own health issues....And how they can not appreciate how helpful goivernment IS and how much more helpful it could be if allowed to develop a comprehensive health-care system.

There is a basic deniual mechanism in them that I just can't fathem.

Anyhow good luck with your mother.

33. there is nothing worse than having to watch your parent suffer and fight for their life.
and to know that there are those that would have their ability to try to live taken from them.... i am so sad about what i see happening in this country. I see people so callous not even realizing what they are dooming themselves and their own family to. Who do they think is going to shoulder that responsibility once medicare and social security is gone?? i mean, my dad had a good retirement. he had a pension and social security to live on. he lived with his girlfriend and together they had a good 25 years together where they might not have had a lot of things, but they lived comfortably for the most part and could go to the doctor when they needed to. And while I may find fault with the fact that my father was so ravaged by cancer by the time it was found that there was nothing anyone could do to stop it, I know that he at least had a good life up til then. He got to watch all his six kids get married. He got to see all but one of his grandkids be born. And he almost got to see a great grandchild. He at least had a chance. But so many don't. So many lose everything they worked their whole lives for just for a chance to live.

I remember when my oldest was a baby. The anxiety we would feel whenever she got sick. We took her to the hospital a couple of times because we had no insurance at the time. I had insurance when I was working, but then I did not and we would think long and hard before we did anything. She has a fever... is it just a fever could it be worse. We have insurance now.... the state health insurance. medicaid for the two youngest. and we are thankful for that. without it we would have to have a high deductible plan through my husbands work.

what i don't understand is how people can allow this. i mean, our representatives get healthcare FOR LIFE!!! they are not subject to the laws they impose on the rest of us. i believe the only thing that will save us is medicare for all.... UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE!! trying to get the brainwashed to see it is impossible. unless and until they too are faced with the things that we have seen.....

my thoughts are with you and your mother for a speedy recovery. good luck.

As someone who trained, and has worked as a direct care giver across the spectrum of "health care" since 1975, I totally and completely understand you. I get you... I AM you, as I've wished I could have done things well within the realm of decency for my own mother.

How do you think end stage renal disease ever got an ICD-9 category and CPT code to pay for it? Someone who was powerful had a parent with it.

Does this shit make sense? Of course, it doesn't.

My Mom was FUCKING WORKING OUT IN A GYM when the tumor "hit" her back. Three months later she was dead.

These fucking CREEPS go around talking as if getting cancer is a result of a lack of character or responsibility.

The VERY sad truth can be realized, however, just by looking at all the other countries with national health care and finding out that not only is it cheaper, but it's BETTER.

It's disgusting what's happening to us.

Unions are being downgraded and demonized. Anytime the issue of universal healthcare is brought up it's destroyed by these corporate Neanderthals.

We're being treated like shit.

These CEO leeches are just hopping from one company to the next. Laying off thousands of workers and driving up their profit margins. They're charging obscene salaries and making money hand over fist while the rest of us suffer.

It's not right! When did we allow this to happen??

I lost my beautiful little wife at age 54 after a long painful humiliating illness. That was some years back. I'm still mad as hell. But I thank God for the time we had together and at the end of it all I wouldn't trade a second of the time I had with her, even the awfulness of the end. I lost my Mom, my Dad, my little brother.. and eventually most of my old friends. In fact, five of them passed away just this year. I do feel your pain. Whatever points I might with God, I wish 'em on you and yours to meet this time of rage and sorrow. And you know what? When all else fails I come to my friends at DU and I rant my angry old guts out. I am so grateful that these good people put up with me. God bless you all. (Even if you don't believe I hope God blesses you anyhow!)

i was about to say i was right there with you, but as i typed that line i realized, on one hand, you seemed to be recognizing the incompetence of republicans AND democrats, but on the other hand, you weren't realizing it was not incompetence, but extreme COMPETENCE at defending the rich.

we need to keep saying it over and over until more and more people get it: the dems are not stupid, wimpy, incompetent, or misled. they are doing exactly what is expected of them by the rich, i.e., defend the interests of the rich by seeming to be on the side of the non-rich. it is absolutely fucking masterful illusion.

it will end, not now, but when, and i guarantee not until, a critical mass gets that the dems are as much a part of the problem as the repubs.

51. I think exactly the same things and I get angry as well. That's why I come here or
I come to these sites to speak with people that are as frustrated and angry as I am. I think too that we are afraid of the people in power in this country and we know if action isn't taken soon, they will silence us all and we will live in servitude to 1% of the population.

My whole family is in the US, my friends, business associates and I see them battling life threatening diseases and their insurance companies at the same time. When treatment is ordered by the doctor they sit while the life drains out of them waiting for the insurance company to get back to them to tell them if they will live or die that particular day. Often the first 2 or 3 times the request is made they reject it and this is while someone is 3rd or 4th stage cancer. I live in Canada and I know both sides of health care. This would NEVER happen in Canada. NO ONE is ever between you and your doctor and we can go whenever we want to. Wait times are for elective surgeries i.e. hips, knees, hernias.

We never get a bill. No one questions our treatment or our doctor. Canadians make life and death decisions for their families, not insurance companies. How is it acceptable for an insurance company to make life and death decisions for Americans, for anyone? The Republibaggers scream and yell all the time about death panels and they don't seem to get that it's their insurance company they need to be afraid of.

I hate US health care. It's the worst in the world because people can't afford it and millions have no access!

I am sorry your mom is so sick! I think you should sue the National Republican party and the individual members for negligence in fulfilling their obligation to the people that elected them to office. Americans are collateral damage in the Right Wing war on Obama and they don't care how many millions of Americans are suffering because of their hateful incompetent Party of Failures!

Your post is awesome! I may put some links to it on other sites. The country is rising up against these charlatans and they are all finished in 2012. I don't care what the polls say, you can feel the country's temperature rising and the baggers will run and hide along with the Republican cowards and hopefully we will have silence and peace so we can rebuild THIS country and heal the wounds inflicted by a party that is surely from then on, a part of our past!

Gawd Bless!

54. Sending best wishes to your mom!
You are right, President Obama actually talked about that at one his appearances today. It is the cost of the care and insurance that is destroying families.

The Democratic party tried during the previous presidency to put in place a law that protected families from losing thier homes in cases of catstrophic illnesses. The Republicans wouldn't even consider it.

The Corporations have free run over every American and Americans are finally getting it.

56. We were going to try this on my Mother, but we were too late, for her. See...
...what you think. It certainly won't hurt and there are many testimonials. It looks a little hokey, but they seem genuine. We had purchased two bottles, but did not get a chance. Again, this should not interfere with anything the physician is doing.

You take it internally. There are other things that you can take topically,
>>>>>>>>Google "MRSA cure" and read carefully.

Be as strong as you can, you are her advocate. I was very disappointed in conventional medicine when Mom passed, it was like they did not know what to do. I proposed using a hyperbaric chamber, the "Doctors" told me, "we don't use that for this", even when there are many reports on the web about it being highly beneficial for blood infections.

Have they tried the hyperbaric chamber for your Mom? It is very good for external infections.

57. If funding for Medicare is cut, everyone will have to deal with the
feelings you have about the injustice. The rich will be able to afford unlimited healthcare, and poor elderly people will suffer and die for lack of decent healthcare. What mother would want to put their child what you are going through? Many seriously ill people will simply end their own lives. I suppose that is what the Republicans want.

And yes, it sucks to have to go into bankruptcy for health care. Peace to you and yours.

60. I hope that your Mom can have a speedy recovery. I know what you are going through
because my grandmother passed away after a long painful illness. It is always so hard on the family. I hope that you can find peace.

The Virtue of Selfishness (by Ayn Rand) as their playbook.

63. Understand your feelings
you have articulated so well what I've been through personally and with my own Mom.

 and a gentle hug to Mom. Just be there for her and show her your love. That's the only part of this that you have any control over for now.

64. I wish your mother, you, and your family the best in such a terrible situation.
In addition to those who believe, "As long as I get mine, fuck everyone else," the Republican party has somehow managed to convince many of those who don't have theirs to support the twisted right-wing vision. Many of the most outspoken proponents of right-wing propaganda are those who are most hurt by the policies it expresses.

They cheated, we didn't. They won, we lost.

Time to roll the credits, we're all screwed.
