Seattle 'spring spheres' Easter egg story can't be substantiated
Source: The Stranger

It tapped the wrath of Christians around the world who inundated Seattle Public Schools with emails last week furious about a teacher who refused to call colorful eggs "Easter eggs," but insisted they be called "spring spheres." Not only an affront to fundies ignorant that decorated eggs predate Jesus by thousands of years, the politically-correct term also concerned liberals who thought educators couldn't distinguish a sphere from an ovoid.

... And it is a great story—if it's true.

"We haven’t been able to verify that it happened," says Seattle Public Schools spokeswoman Teresa Wippel. She says district officials contacted all 88 schools in Seattle last week, asking if any employee could confirm or deny the "spring sphere" story. "Generally when we put out some question, we usually do get some kind of confirmation from people. But it has been silence so far."

The story originated with KIRO FM's Dori Monson, a right-wing radio show host, when he interviewed a 16-year-old girl last week. On the show, Jessica, whose last name was withheld, said she has been volunteering for a third-grade class at a school that is never identified with a teacher who is never named.

2. The war on Easter.
I heard on the radio here that the Easter Bunny was scheduled to arrive at some event in a helicopter.

Could be an Apache or something. He could be well armed, so be careful out there Easter Warriors!

3. It's all just ideas to me!
Some are good, some are bad. Some last, some are a flash in the pan. Some people look at them and see them as relative and consider their practicality and immediate value, while others think the ideas are theirs and equate themselves, their purpose, and their meaning with them.

Yet the are only ideas, no matter how they are portrayed, their history and their perceived values. What always matters most is how those ideas are affecting us now, both individually and collectively, and how our current lives and results are affected by them. That point takes ascendancy to all the reasons and philosophy and religion behind them.

Ideas are good an important until they become believes, and that is where they become problematic and even foundations for atrocity and horror. Here we are with what this is and every idea should be some way to support what is good for us or improve on our situation -- the rest are harmful and delusions and tools for exploitation.
