The truth about looting in Japan.
Just to set the record straight, there have been some cases of looting in the disaster zones in Japan. I spoke to a friend who has been up there delivering relief supplies and he confirmed that he saw it with his own eyes, and heard some stories from locals as well. In particular, a 7-11 across the street from his friends' house was broken into and goods were stolen.

The whole "why is there no looting in Japan?" meme is a false one. There is looting in ANY major disaster, ANYWHERE, when people are in trouble and desperate to survive.

4. I guess I missed whatever was deleted.
I hope my factual info did not cause offense, I didn't try to put it into emotional terms but just report what I've learned.

As far as looting to survive, I agree. How can one judge unless one is in the same circumstances?

I heard a few other, more abhorrent stories too, though. About theft of goods from one stricken person at the hands of their neighbors (not even necessities, either!). Not many stories, but a couple. That sort of thing really is sickening (dog eat dog kind of stuff, and it doesn't matter what your culture or background, anyone who does such a thing is loathsome).
