Governor backs down on recycling ( Walker's plans get trashed...hopefully he is next))

A snippet: "The budget also kept a $7 per ton tipping fee charged at landfills. That money has been used to underwrite local recycling programs.

In his budget, Walker instead earmarked the money for economic development, environmental cleanups and other purposes. That brought criticism from recycling advocates because during the campaign Walker criticized Democratic former Gov. Jim Doyle for using more than $1 billion from the state transportation fund to pay for schools.

"If we allow Gov. Walker to get away with taking segregated fund dollars, that's wrong," said Rick Meyers, chairman of the Wisconsin Council on Recycling. Meyers is the City of Milwaukee's recycling manager."

I think the most important thing to notice here is he wanted to use the money for environmental cleanup. Ah, so people pay to support recycling, Walker would take the money and use it to clean up CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP. They pollute, we pay to clean it up.
