Foreclosure leaves North Palm, FL couple's belongings on street for thieves

Code enforcement officials responded Friday to protect furniture and other personal items that eviction officials placed in the driveway of a Lighthouse Drive home.

"People were like buzzards around fresh meat. At one point, there must have been a dozen cars. People were grabbing and taking everything," said Chuck Huff, the village community development director.

People illegally sifted through mattresses, desks, lamp shades, dishes, books, golfing equipment and dozens of other items. Property piled on a person's driveway is not open to the public without the owner's permission, Huff said.

2. In our community anything left out beside the road is fair game. It is
one of the ways we recycle. I am assuming this Florida city does not do it that way.

3. Wait, something doesn't sound/read right.
The foreclosure was done in January. They just now had their stuff moved out of the house? 3-1/2 months later? And they live in Perry, FL...why didn't they take all this stuff with them?

4. "People were like buzzards around fresh meat"
This is why this Depression will be worse than the last one. No one knows how to make things for themselves, and thus a nation of 'consumers' becomes a nation of violent scavengers.
