Response to people who vote and support against........ |
|
their personal economic interests.
Simply ask them what advice they would give a poor black kid who's working his ass off to get to the NBA. I'm sure it would be something like don't count on it. Get an education to have something to fall back on. Then explain that it's easier for that kid to get to the NBA than it is for you to get to the millionaire tax bracket NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU WORK AT IT. So if the odds are that long, why vote against your current interests?
Do you think it would work? It plays on their usual stereotypical reading of the poor AND black and they're drawn into the trap before they know it.

1. no, just ask them how little they are willing to work for. because i keep hearing how |
|
we have to compete with these other countries. we have to be competitive to keep companies here. well, how little will you work for? 15 cents an hour? how many days a week? because in honduras from that walmart movie i saw, they were getting paid 24cents an hour and working 7 days a week. unless you are REALLY willing to be competitive, then shut the hell up and start fighting for your rights as a worker.

2. Make it even more real |

it's getting easier for that kid to try out for the NBA than it is to even get into college...plus they'll never get into the NBA without college, likely.
